The Cornell Quaranzine
Supporting Your Well-being - Spring 2021
2/16/2021
Dear Community,
Congratulations - week one done! Let’s continue doing the best we can, one day at a time, and celebrate even the seemingly small victories.
This past weekend was Valentine’s Day (and Galentine's day). Whether you celebrated with a romantic partner, best friend, sibling or your pet bunny, we want to encourage you to keep the love going - toward those around you and toward yourself this week. Making someone laugh, commiserating together or pushing one another toward being the best version of yourselves are all examples of how you might express love, care or concern for someone else. Staying hydrated, getting some exercise or prioritizing sleep are ways you might show love to yourself.
What else can you think of? What will you try this week?
Wishing you wellness,
The Skorton Center for Health Initiatives

But First: A Self Check-in
How do you define love? How have people demonstrated what love is to you? In our society, love carries numerous meanings and definitions all at once. The examples we get from our friends, families, our faith-based communities, and the media, ultimately shape our perspective.
Consider these aspects of love and how you may experience and or want to express them:
Love does not do away with boundaries at the expense of your own or another person's well-being.
Love ultimately respects others.
Love equates to action - the giving of our time, resources, or words to uplift others.
Love extends grace and forgiveness while challenging us to grow into better versions of ourselves.
Love makes us feel safe.
Love is communicated and expressed.
How might you communicate love to yourself and others this week?
Love Yourself. Love Community.

Finding Bright Spots
Excerpt from Today's Email Update on the Campus Mental Health Review
One way we hope to help shift the culture is to shine a light on what is already working well and to learn from one another. To that end, we will be seeking examples of what we refer to as “bright spots,” efforts at any level (e.g., department, classroom, individual) that we can learn from, share, and replicate across departments and colleges."
