President's Message
Your 2018 Board Members gathered on January 13th to discuss plans for upcoming events. While some things are set with dates and locations, we do have a few things that we're working on scheduling. Check out the calendar for more details.
Our Specialty plans for Timonium, MD in April are coming along. We are welcoming Maureen Larroux (Majela) as our sweepstakes judge, and Althea Richardson (Caramac) for our regular classes on Friday. For Sunday's BCKC Supported Entry show, we have Val Maloney (Avalon) for sweepstakes and Ian Copus (Rallentando) for regular classes. We hope you'll join us for the show! We will once again have our basket raffle, so please consider donating any item you think may be of interest. Feel free to put together a themed basket or if you have a few items, we can organize baskets for you. Items do not have to be beardie or even dog related. Last year we had wine, lobster and first-aid baskets that were very popular, just to name a few . Also, keep an eye out for our special pre-show fundraising, coming soon!
Calling all obedience friends, fans and volunteers: Have some spare time on Sunday, April 22, 2018? Lucy Cambell-Gracie is looking for some help with stewarding the all-breed obedience trial. Email Lucy for more details.
We are moving forward with our annual herding trial this June. Lucy Campbell-Gracie will be stepping in as our herding trial chair. If you are interested in being part of the committee or helping in any way, please contact Lucy.
Our agility trial is also coming together under the direction of Linda Porter (who has done an amazing job with this event for the last few years!!). We will return to FISC in Frederick, MD in October 2018. As always, if you're interested in helping out on the agility committee or at the event, please contact Linda.
We're hoping to schedule two beardie bounces this year- after all, it's what they do best! One should be in May and one will be in November alongside our annual meeting. We're always looking to spread out the location of these meetings. If you have the space and are interested in hosting a bounce, please email me at ncbccpresident@gmail.com
Attached in this newsletter are membership renewals and trophy donation forms. Don't forget to renew!! Last year, each of you received the gift of membership from NCBCC as a thank you for your participation in our club and our successful National Specialty in Gettys burg. We have kept the amount for the 2018 membership dues the same as they were in 2016.
We hope that as you are submitting your dues this year, you'll also consider sponsoring a trophy or the general trophy fund for our specialty in April. Your support helps us offer special trophies for all the exhibitors who travel to participate in our show. Donors will be published in the show catalog if received by March 1, 2018 .
Lastly, your board voted to form an exploratory committee to consider a bid to host the 2021 BCCA National Specialty. We are focusing on a Virginia location this time around. If you are interested in participating on this committee, please email me at ncbccpresident@gmail.com by January 31, 2018
Wishing you all the best,
Laura (and Gilly, too!)
Don't forget to renew your dues for 2018
