MISSION STATEMENT
ADVENT (Dec. 2, 2018 - Dec. 24, 2018)
For our CBC YOUTH MINISTRY, we want to take advantage of this season of liturgical calendar to help our students, leaders, parents, and ourselves anchor our hope to certain things. "This double meaning in Advent history signals an important reality in the liturgical calendar: Advent and Christmas are never held as a full re-enactment of the life of Christ but point to our place between the Resurrection and Second Coming. Advent and Christmas are not merely about the coming of Jesus, but about everything since the birth of Jesus." (Ryan Reeves).
In your DGs, help the students center around these ideas that lead up to Christmas. Help them see the importance of slowing down, remembering, and the value of traditions. Perhaps in your own DG, come up with a tradition of your own in order to center your group around the idea of Jesus.
We were going to make our own we came across a trusted source from the Village Church and they had created already an entire book of resources for this season. We've received the license agreement to distribute the book to our leaders and parents. Please use this to your own growth and discipleship of our students. Pay particular attention to the areas of family discipleship and milestones.

CBC YOUTH MAP
1. We are definitely considered a "commuter church" opposed to a "community church." Our people are commuting to church (29.8 miles is the furthest) in order to come to CBC while passing up many other churches in their community.
2. Because of #1 we must take into account our programing and our realistic expectations of on campus events, trainings, and practices. We must think about traffic, timing, and just where people are at.
3. Use this image to see who you can minister to in your immediate geographic area. While your DG maybe all over the place, during the week consider visiting, hanging out with the youth and their families in the area.
4. DREAM of the reach CBC YOUTH can have. We literally cover all of Houston with students and families that understand the Gospel, are currently being trained and equipped. What happens if everyone in their respective areas takes the MISSION STATEMENT of our youth group seriously in their own areas and schools, coffee shops and restaurants, gyms and grocery stores???
