GLOW IN THE DARK DANCE (Friday, April 29th)
Hello, Tigers! The spring dance is this Friday evening from 6-8 PM! The theme is Glow in the Dark and the dress is casual! We hope to see you all there! Here are some guidelines to know before attending the dance:
Please leave jackets and bags at home as you will not have access to your locker. Anything you bring, you will have to carry.
Phones will be allowed at the dance to be used at the photo booth. When not at the photo booth, your phone needs to be in your pocket or small purse.
When it comes to what you wear, please remember that the school dress code must be followed.
While at the dance, students must follow all school rules. We can’t wait to have fun while still being respectful and responsible!
Reach out to Mrs. Rogers (drogers@plano88.org) or Ms. Conroy (mconroy@plano88.org) with any questions.

Orders will be taken through Friday, May 6th with pick-up dates of May 18 and July 20th. The pick-up location is the Maintenance Building, behind the Administration Office and next to the Middle School.

8th Grade Promotion Ceremony
The 8th grade Promotion Ceremony will take place Thursday, May 26, 2022 in the Plano High School Main Gym. Students and families should enter through the Athletics entrance on the west side of the building. The ceremony begins promptly at 7:00 p.m. in the Plano High School Gymnasium. Students should arrive between 6:30 and 6:45 p.m. and report to the Auxiliary Gym for lineup. Appropriate attire should consist of dress clothes. Jeans, shorts, sportswear, hats, etc. should not be worn.
We have arranged for a professional photographer to take a photo of each student as they receive their promotion certificate. Information on how to order pictures will be available the night of the ceremony.
Please read and share the following expectations for our promotion ceremony to ensure a positive experience for all students:
· Every family should be able to hear their student’s name announced. Spectators are asked to refrain from inappropriate outbursts such as: loud shouting, use of noise-makers, or wild applause. There will be an opportunity to applaud the entire class once all students have received their certificates.
· Spectators need to remain in their seats during the ceremony.
· Parents and families please do not give your student balloons, flowers, or anything else during the ceremony. It disrupts and delays the ceremony. There will be an opportunity after the ceremony to greet your student and express your gratitude.
Following these rules will help keep the ceremony moving along and provide a meaningful experience for ALL students. We appreciate your efforts as parents and look forward to seeing you on May 26, 2022. Congratulations to the 2022 Eighth Grade Class!

P.E. Announcement
With the spring season finally approaching, our P.E. classes will start going outside when weather permits. Please have your students bring proper attire for the upcoming weeks.
Walk Home Reminders:
- Be respectful of people's property. Walk on the sidewalks, not in yards. If you have trash, wait until you find a proper place to dispose of it. Leave people's yards and homes alone.
- Use the crosswalks to cross streets. Be sure to look out for traffic, and do not walk out in front of or into it. Again, stay on the sidewalks and don't walk in the street other than to cross at a clear crosswalk.
- Remember that you represent Plano Middle School! Your words and actions determine how people think of you, the children of Plano, and of Plano Middle School. BE RESPECTFUL AND KIND WITH YOUR WORDS AND ACTIONS! Even when you think there's nobody around to notice what is going on, there likely is.
- At Route 34, use the crosswalk with the crossing guards, and follow their instructions. They're there to ensure that you can cross 34 safely and to help you.
Thanks for helping us be good neighbors, show our community how great you are, and for representing our school in the right ways!
School Dress Code Reminders:
SCHOOL DRESS CODE REMINDERS
Here are some general reminders and guidelines related to the school dress code. Please review them so you know and understand what is and is not considered appropriate to wear to school. We appreciate everyone’s cooperation with this!
- All clothing should be clean, odorless, and neat.
- Modesty in dress is expected. Tops are expected to appropriately cover the individual’s bust and torso. Halter tops, off-the-shoulder tops, crop tops, tube tops, muscle shirts, tank tops, or other similar tops that expose the bare midriff are not permitted to be worn during school hours or at school-sponsored activities.
- Clothing with excessive holes, tears, rips, and clothing that is otherwise poorly fitting, showing skin and/or undergarments will not be permitted to be worn. When the student’s arms are at his/her side, holes in clothing that exposes skin should be below the student’s fingertips.
- Shorts and skirts must be of appropriate length. When the student’s arms are at his/her side, the short or skirt length should be below the student’s fingertips.
- Shorts and pants are expected to be worn at the waistline.
- Hats are not to be worn while in the school building during the school day and/or at extra-curricular activities. Hats are to be removed immediately upon entering the school building and should not be put on until exiting through the doors leading outside the building.
- Content/Graphics on clothing must be of a school-appropriate nature. Content/graphics that display images or phrases that are of an illegal, immoral, or inappropriate nature will not be permitted. This includes clothing that advertises, advocates, symbolizes or displays drugs, alcohol, gangs, profanity, sexual suggestive phrase or graphics, occult symbols, or other related criminal behavior. It also includes articles of clothing displaying any sign or insignia which shows disrespect for any race, creed, color, gender, nationality, and drug-related phrases and/or graphics. Examples of prohibited clothing include, but not limited to: gang identifiers (stars, crowns, pitchforks, dollar signs, dice, etc.), and /or identifiers as established by school authorities advertising cigarettes, alcohol, drugs, other similar items, or any other items of an inappropriate or sexual nature.
A more complete review of Dress Standards can be found on page 23 of the Student Handbook, which can be found at the front of the Student Agenda each student has.
