City Park Updates
East Park
As many of you have probably noticed, we have finally been able to clear the playground equipment that was damaged in the fire. We are now waiting on the contractor to reinstall the new equipment. We appreciate your patience and we realize that this has taken much longer than anticipated.
West Park
The City has partnered with the National Fitness Campaign and several local donors to purchase an outdoor fitness court. The outdoor fitness court promotes good health and encourages exercise in an outdoor environment. The court will be located on the corner of 9th Ave W and Idaho St. Please stay tuned for the groundbreaking ceremonies this summer.
RV Dump Station & Dog Park
The City Crew has been putting the final touches on a new park located next to the RV Dump Station on 2nd Ave W. The City received a grant from the Idaho Parks and Recreation Department to upgrade the water supply at the RV Dump Station. The upgrade allows us to protect the water from freezing and allowing use later into the year to support late season campers or hunters. We were also able to create a green space for travelers to rest and let their dogs stretch their legs before making the journey home. This park is available to the community and their dogs. The park includes an ADA compliant picnic table, dog waste station and trees and green grass. We hope to have the park open in a month or so as long as the weather cooperates and allows us to get it hydroseeded.
Message from Mayor Diane Houser
Hello Gooding,
Hopefully spring has arrived! The temperature is supposed to rise this weekend and hopefully we can begin planting. With the temperature rising and the snow melting please be mindful of the waterways.
The streets department has been working hard on cleaning up our streets. They have been working on replacing the street sign poles and sweeping the streets.
The crew has also been busy getting the Dog Park ready. They have been planting trees and shrubs and will be hydroseeding it within the next few weeks. This will be a great area for citizens to let their dogs run.
On May 4th we will be celebrating Arbor Day. We will be hosting the event with the Wood River Soil Conservation District at the USDA office on Main Street at 10:00 am. Everyone is welcome to attend.
Spring clean up week is coming. Please take advantage of the crews coming around and picking up the yard waste. We will be working on getting alleys cleaned up. We have some alleyways that are getting inaccessible for our garbage truck. We appreciate your help.
Have a great Mother's Day & Memorial Day!
