Home Of The Bears!
A Word From Deputy Carson, our School Resource Officer
Time and duty permitting, I will be directing and assisting with traffic on Ehrlich Rd. in the morning and afternoon. If I am not out there, it is because my presence is needed somewhere else on the campus at that time. My number one duty is the safety and security of the students on property for the duration of the day.
- As you are well aware, the traffic situation on Ehrlich Rd. is very hectic; please remain patient when coming to the school to drop off or pick up your child. We are doing our very best to move cars in and out of the campus efficiently while also keeping traffic on Ehrlich Rd. moving as smoothly as possible.
- When approaching the drop off/pick-up point, we ask that you limit your cell phone usage. Alert drivers will help keep the line moving as quickly as possible. Please encourage the students to keep an eye out for your vehicle as well as it approaches the pick-up point in the afternoon, which will also help to eliminate slow-downs and delays.
- Please do not stop your vehicle over or across the painted white crosswalks that are parallel to Ehrlich Rd. Per Florida law, all crosswalks are to be left obstruction free for pedestrians and bicyclists. We have a considerable amount of bicycle riders and walkers at Ben Hill and their safety is of the utmost concern, especially as our school sits adjacent to an extremely busy roadway.
- Please do not stop your vehicle on Ehrlich Rd. and let your child out of the passenger side to walk to school. Not only is this dangerous for surrounding vehicles and pedestrians, but it is also against Florida law. All pedestrians must use provided sidewalks when available and cross roadways at designated crosswalks and intersections. Again, this is for your child’s safety.
