EISD will be offering several opportunities over the next weeks and months for parents to get involved, learn about important topics, and build capacity together to help our students academically, socially, and emotionally.

You don't have to be a parent to attend. All are welcome!

A SHAC is a school board appointed advisory group of individuals who represent different segments of the community. By law, a majority of the members must be persons who are parents of students enrolled in the district and who are not employed by the district. The EISD SHAC is made up of parents, community members, students, and school staff working together to improve the health of all students and families through coordinated school health programs. Texas law requires all school districts to have a SHAC.

The purpose of this meeting will be to review the findings of the district Comprehensive Needs Assessment regarding the Social-emotional and Mental Well-being of Students as well as to adopt any changes to the EISD Wellness Plan.

This event will focus on literacy services to improve English language skills and training in parenting activities.

There can be a lot of questions that come up when STAAR is mentioned. This session will focus on the redesign of the STAAR test, which is intended to better measure students' understanding of concepts and to make the test more engaging for students. We will also focus on where to find your child's testing scores, what they mean, and how to partner with your child's teacher to improve achievement.

Head Start will be holding a registration event on Thursday, April 13 from 9:00 am - 2:00 pm in the gym on the west side of Siebert. Children who are ages 3 and 4 by September 1, 2023 may register. Enrollment into the program is based on income.

Parents need to provide:

• proof of income
• proof of residency (ex: a utility bill with name and address)
• health insurance
• birth certificate
• immunization record
• social security card

If you have a student who will be attending kindergarten in the fall, we ask that you attend our Kindergarten Round-up on Monday, May 15 from 5:00-6:30 pm at Siebert Elementary.

This is a great event that allows you and your child to meet the teachers, tour the classrooms, and get some of your paperwork out of the way. Additionally, this event provides a very important first step in your child's transition from pre-k or home to the kindergarten classroom.

Please bring (we can make copies):

• Proof of Residence (utility bill, cell phone bill, lease agreement, etc. that lists your current address)
• Parent's Driver's License
• Birth Certificate (student's)
• Current Shot Record
• Social Security Card (student's)

Laptops will be available to register your student on site!
