The B.Y.E. Buzz
Week of March 22 and March 29
Principal Corner
We hope everyone enjoys their Spring Break. Students and teachers have worked so hard the first three quarters of this year. I am so proud of everyone! Please take time to relax and enjoy your time away from school next week.
Mrs. Norwood
The Book Fair is coming after Spring Break! Check out how to create an e-wallet so your child can purchase books. Classroom teachers will be sending home a link so you can add money for teachers to purchase books for their classroom. We will also have a parent night so you can shop with your child. This will be on April 5th from 3:30-6:30. Stay tuned for more details.
Report Cards will come home on Monday, March 29. Please review your child's report card and sign the envelope before returning. Reach out to teachers with any questions you have.

Springdale News
A note from KNWA:
The Super Weather Kid segment is still accepting entries throughout all of 2021. We highlight two kiddos per month throughout the school year and the summer months. We would love to highlight your students who not only love the weather but science. If chosen, they will join Chief Meteorologist, Dan Skoff, on-air to talk about our local and daily weather.
We have partnered with Energizer to show support to our up-and-coming meteorologists and scientists. As COVID 19 continues to exist, we will have the kiddos join us via Zoom. Dan will connect with the child’s parents and set up the call.
If you wouldn’t mind, we would love if you could share the link below with your teachers and parents. This is such a fun and exciting way for kids to showcase their scientific side and Dan loves to talk about weather. This project is eligible for students from the age of 6-15.
New Zones
As Springdale continues to grow, we are excited to expand our school family with the addition of the new Jim D. Rollins Elementary School of Innovation. The Springdale School District prides itself on providing the highest quality, personalized education to all our students, no matter where they attend school. The Springdale School District is adjusting attendance zones for the 2021-2022 school year in preparation for the opening of the new elementary school in the fall. These new zones will mean new exciting changes for some of our families. Please see the link for the new zones. If you are zoned to attend Rollins Elementary School of Innovation, a letter was sent home with your child on March 17. Please sign and return the letter to Young Elementary. The letter will list the date/time of an upcoming parent meeting.
Notes from the Counselor- MOTIVATION
Counseling Lesson Theme- Career Awareness
Elementary school is not too early to start teaching your child about career awareness. Making career decisions is a lifelong process about exploring and experiencing the world of work. It is important for your child to become aware of how his or her education is connected to a successful future.
While in Elementary school, you can help your child:
Discover the variety of jobs available to him or her
Connect what he/she is learning in school to real-world situations
Imagine him/herself in an occupation
Develop work-readiness skills such as working and playing with others, making decisions, solving problems, and being a leader!
Discuss different skills and interests your child has and relate them to certain jobs. For example, a reporter needs writing skills to create newspaper articles or blogs.
