Hello Tiger Families,
What an exciting time of the year for school aged children, the weather warms and it brings a burst of energy for outside recess fun! Our kids also will be wrapping up their local and state testing this month after a lot of hard work. We are so proud of the progress that our students have made this year both academically and behaviorally. They are growing and maturing beautifully! Thank you for your continued support and collaboration with us to ensure all of our students' success!
Your Academic Partner,
Mrs. Bryant, Ed. S

What all families should know about The Bus!
Please remember that students must remain in their seats on the bus at all time, students can not hop seats or hang over the back of seats. This is to keep all kids safe during the bus ride. Students with great bus behavior can be rewarded with "Bus Tiger Tickets" and get a chance for their names to be entered for a prize.
Your Partners in Education,
Mrs. Bryant and Mrs. Banks
Hello from Kindergarten!
Wow! We have already made it to May.
This month we will be exploring and discovering more phonics and math concepts. In addition to reading various books, your child will be engaging in more challenging writing experiences. Please continue to work at home with writing sight words as well as sounding out words they do not know.
In math, we are continuing to work on addition and subtraction, graphing, shapes, and both 2D & 3D.
As the weather gets warmer, remember to send your child with appropriate shoes and water bottles. We have enjoyed working with your children. We are amazed with the social and academic growth.
Happy Spring!
Mrs. Bianchi, Ms. Binert, and Mrs. Coleman
Hello First Grade Families!
Happy May! 🌷
It's so nice to finally have warmer weather each day! Remember to have your child dress for the daily weather. We do go outside for recess every day, unless it is raining, too wet or or super muddy. Please keep the "Student Dress Code" in mind when your child dresses for the warmer weather. No spaghetti straps, no tank tops ,and short/skirts must be longer than fingertip length (when their arms are down at their sides). The AC in our classrooms sometimes works on overdrive-- if students would like to bring a sweatshirt or sweater to leave in our classroom, that would be great!
As our reading is improving and your child is reading more at home, remember to ask your them lots of questions about the details in the story (the characters, setting, the problem, the solution, etc.). They should be able to retell the story with lots of details and in sequences, too. Comprehension is just as important as being able to read a story especially as the reading gets harder. You can ask comprehension questions about TV shows and movies, too.
We have been working on telling time here at school. This is a very difficult skill to master. Practicing at home with an analog clock (one with hands) will not only build their skills, but their confidence too!
As always, let us know if you have any question. We're here to help!
Your First Grade Teachers,
Mrs. Garden, Mrs. Mounsey, & Mrs. Stremer
Hello Second Grade Families!
Happy May!
Now that the weather is getting a little warmer please make sure your child is dressed for the weather. We still go out if it is not raining or muddy. No flip flops please. These are unsafe to wear on the playground equipment. Sandals with buckles are fine.
In math, we are working on measuring in different units: inches, centimeters, foot, and yard. Have your child practice measuring different items at home.
In writing, we are finishing up our Fairy Tales and then moving on to informational writing on an animal. In reading, we are continuing to work on retellings of a story and focusing on nonfiction text and its features. Continue to have your child read every night at home. In Science, we are learning about Landforms.
As always, if you have a question or need anything, don't hesitate to reach out.

Mrs. Albulov, Ms. Carlin, and Mrs. Tibbs
April showers bring May Flowers! 🌼 Hello 3rd Grade families!
Happy month of May!
We survived the M-STEP! Yayyyy! Thank you families for supporting your students during this time. They all did an awesome job staying focused and on task.
May 8th-26 students will take their last I-Ready test. As you know we will be there to provide them with the support that they need during this time as well.
Later this month we will be going on a field trip to Greenfield Village. If you would like to be a chaperone for this field trip, please contact your student's teacher. More info regarding the trip will be coming home soon.
Please continue to check your child's "take home folder" for homework and school/classroom news. Please check for homework completion and remind your students to read daily.
As always, monitor Class Dojo for important information that is happening in the classroom and at Rawsonville Elementary.
Remember that we live in Michigan and our weather can be rather fickle, please make sure that your student is dressed for whatever the weather may be.
Thank you families for all that you do!
The Third Grade Team,
Mrs. Baker, Mrs. Burton, Mrs. Cunningham, & Mrs. Roberson
Happy May 4th Grade Tigers!
Our team would like to congratulate all of our students for persevering with their personal best on the MSTEP. Thank you for your support in assuring your child was in attendance on these important days and for helping to support your child with positive affirmations! Students strived with dedicated focus and purpose and we are extremely proud of them.
There are many events in the weeks to come, so please mark your calendar: May 5th: Field trip to the 34th District Court for the second annual Community Day. This is a free field trip (how exciting!) and students will be able to tour the court, interact with judges, view public safety demonstrations, and more. The bus will depart at 10:45a.m. and we will return around 1:30p.m.
May 8th-May 26th: i-Ready Spring testing for Reading and Math. Our team will continue to support students with positive testing strategies and discuss personal year end goals. More details to come.
May 23rd: Field trip to Owen Intermediate School from 9:25-10:30a.m. Students will have an opportunity to tour the school with Owen student leaders, ask questions related to their 5th grade journey, and meet office staff and instructional teachers.
As the temperatures are now trending to be warmer outside for recess, the air conditioning is still very cool in our classrooms. Please make sure that your child has a sweater or sweatshirt in his/her backpack if needed.
Have a wonderful month ahead and enjoy all the colors that are beginning to bloom!
As always, thank you families for your continued partnership!
Educationally yours,
Mrs. Ali, Ms. Dagenais, and Mrs. Gyulveszi

Intervention helps our students READ!
Happy May Rawsonville Tigers!!
It's time to "spring" into some good books as we move into sunshine and warmer temperatures! This month, let's explore the changes in our season by reading some books about gardening, animals, insects, and nature.
As always, please continue to help your student(s) with their 30 minutes of daily reading, 10 minutes of reading to themselves, 10 minutes of them reading to someone, and 10 minutes of someone reading to them.
You can also check out amazing stories online read by students, staff, and community members by visiting our Rawsonville Bedtime Stories Youtube page. Let's work together to encourage our students to focus on school these last couple months and what they need to do to finish the year strong!!
Happy reading Tigers!
