An Update on Our Instruction Plan

Dear Forest Park families,
I wanted to provide an update about what teaching and learning will look like for the duration of our school closure.
We will continue with asynchronous learning tomorrow and Friday. Thanks to our teachers’ flexibility and students’ resilience, this week of virtual SEL check-ins has gone very smoothly. But it’s crucial that we bring our students and teachers back together again for in-person learning as soon as possible.
With that in mind, I have been working closely with district leadership to craft a plan to make that possible. Beginning Tuesday, January 30, we will be using eight portable classrooms for in-person instruction. Students will alternate between two days of in-person learning in those portable units and two days of comprehensive distance learning. I will share more details, including individual class schedules, with you at tomorrow’s FPE Community Q&A. It will take place from 6-7 p.m. You can log in to the meeting here.
The district facilities team informed me today that our building is scheduled to reopen on Monday, February 5. These next several days will undoubtedly be challenging, but I’m confident that we will meet this moment with grace, patience, and creativity.
Please don’t hesitate to contact me at amartini@pps.net if you have any questions or concerns.
