BE BOLD. BE BRAVE. BE BREMERTON!
A message from your new Superintendent
July 5, 2023
Dear Bremerton School District students, families, staff and community:
It is an honor to serve as your new superintendent.
Leaving Bremerton after graduating from Bremerton High School in 1998, my childhood dream was to learn, serve, and teach - to stay curious.
Driving into Bremerton after being away for 25 years was a gentle feeling - the aura of family, community, and service gave me goosebumps. Bremerton inspired me to forge paths for others in the same way mine was forged. My success and strength as an adult after the adversity in my childhood is the direct result of the Bremerton community and our school staff. I'm deeply humbled and honored to walk alongside you to enhance the great work today and forge tomorrow's path for the kids who sit inside our classrooms today.
This spring I began engaging in conversations with students, staff, parents and community members to listen and learn more about the rich history of Bremerton, traditions that hold value, and the dreams of what we see for tomorrow. Through these conversations, it became clear that our schools are the heartbeat of our community - they are first and foremost in the minds of our community.
What else became clear was our unwavering PRIDE in who we are as individuals, as family, and as community. What makes Bremerton so very special is our diversity - and that sentiment was shared as an emerging theme in my conversations.
I believe creating a school system that holds our greatest assets to excellence is pivotal to a thriving community and our democracy. I believe our greatest assets are our children.
People have been asking, "what's your vision?"
My vision is simple, yet courageous: Be bold. Be brave. Be Bremerton.
But we can't do this alone.
Whether you're a student, parent, grandparent, aunt, or uncle; whether you're a teacher, principal, civic leader, faith based leader, or military leader; whether you're a realtor, firefighter, police officer, or engineer - no matter your role in our community, you hold the keys to our future.
I believe listening and learning is central to our work together. I look forward to more opportunities to listen and learn from all of you as I serve our community as your new superintendent.
Remember to cherish your time, one another, and always stand proud:
BE BOLD. BE BRAVE. BE BREMERTON!
