Dear Parents
As we welcome in February, I am amazed that the year is half over. Time is moving quickly for our students, so I would like to take this opportunity to remind you of a few things that will help your child be more successful this school year.
The first is attendance. Most students who do well have great attendance. They are here almost every day and they are here on time. Both of these things are important to learning. We certainly understand that students do sometimes get sick and there is the need for some absences, but there is a lot learned every moment we are here.
The second is participation. Students who are performing well in the classroom are actively engaged. I can see it in my visits to classrooms, and in the comments that teachers write. I very much recommend that all parents encourage active participation in class.

Cuando damos la bienvenida en febrero, me sorprende que el año esté a la mitad. El tiempo se está moviendo rápidamente para nuestros estudiantes, por lo que me gustaría aprovechar esta oportunidad para recordarles algunas cosas que ayudarán a su hijo a tener más éxito este año escolar.
El primero es la asistencia. La mayoría de los estudiantes que lo hacen bien tienen una gran asistencia. Están aquí casi todos los días y están aquí a tiempo. Ambas cosas son importantes para el aprendizaje. Ciertamente entendemos que los estudiantes a veces se enferman y existe la necesidad de algunas ausencias, pero se aprende mucho cada momento que estamos aquí.
El segundo es la participación. Los estudiantes que se desempeñan bien en el aula participan activamente. Lo puedo ver en mis visitas a las aulas y en los comentarios que escriben los maestros. Recomiendo mucho que todos los padres fomenten la participación activa en la clase.
