Welcome Back, Bixby 9th Grade Families!

I hope everyone has had a wonderful and restful summer! This will be my 19th year in education, and each year I am always so excited to welcome our students back! Our theme this year is “Empower Your Future” and with our dynamic and dedicated 9th Grade Center team, our students are destined for a fabulous year as we help to guide them towards achieving their own personal goals and dreams with confidence.

As we begin this school year, it is our goal to work diligently to create a climate where students are encouraged to be in charge of their learning, where mutual respect is foremost and where the faculty and staff not only set high expectations for their students but also model that behavior to inspire and motivate that excellence in their students. Our teachers and staff have already been collaborating on the year with engaging, innovative and challenging learning experiences as well as culture and community building activities. It’s truly going to be a great year!

After receiving feedback, the district has made a concerted effort to streamline communication as much as possible. Stay tuned for further information; however, you can download the BPS App for either Apple or Android, if you do not already have it and be sure to set your settings to allow notifications.

Schedules will be released via PowerSchool on Thursday, August 4th at 9:00 AM. If you would like to request a schedule change, those can be submitted here. While changes cannot be guaranteed, we will look at them as possibilities.

Additionally, we would like to invite you to our Meet the Teacher scheduled for Friday, August 12th from 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM. This is a dedicated time where our campus will be open for students to walk their schedules, gather important information related to our school that will be helpful for the upcoming year, and to be able to put faces with names as we look forward to welcoming the Class of 2026 to our school. Students will also have an opportunity to select a locker if they would like one, and will need to have a key or combination lock to place on the locker of their choice. Finally, you have probably already heard that we have a new bell schedule for the 2022-2023 school year, with a five minute adjustment. See the bell schedule located here.

If you have had the chance to drive by the school, you will notice that construction has begun. This excitement on campus surrounding the construction of a new high school also brings with it the challenge of mapping and coordinating the safe arrival and dismissal of almost 2,000 students as well as teachers, staff and visitors.

The district will have a comprehensive plan posted and sent for your review on August 10th! One thing we know for sure, we will need everyone to work together, ensuring understanding of their arrival and dismissal route once posted, and lots of grace and patience to help things go smoothly!
