I want to start off by congratulating Mrs. Lisa Smith for representing Owens Elementary at the Teacher of the Year banquet on Thursday. We are blessed by her presence and experience at Owens and I'm so grateful for her expertise and friendship--We are a better school each day because of her.

As all of you know, our first STAAR test is quickly approaching. Our teachers and students are working very hard right now and our teachers have got some special things planned to make learning engaging over the next couple of weeks. A special thank you to a number of parents who spent time yesterday evening turning parts of our school into an arctic wonderland. I'm excited for our students to see it and am hopeful for its impact on student learning.

The Learner Profile is an opportunity for families to give input on your child's teacher for the upcoming school year. Depending on the grade level your child is entering in the upcoming school year you will be prompted to answer 8-10 questions about your child's temperament, abilities, and the type and style of teacher you believe your child would learn from best.
