Ventana Vistas

We had a busy week last week at Ventana Vista. Friday was Constitution Day, and also Mexican Independence Day. It was great to see all the classes celebrate Constitution Day. You can see from the pictures that the students worked hard.

It was also Mexican Independence Day on Friday and the Kindergarten classes celebrated by dancing to a variety of Mexican dances. They had so much fun.

Ms. Meza had her students learn about the variety of maps. From physical, to a map of the US and the capitals of the states and one group shared a map of

Acapulco. They all worked on maps and then presented them using their Spanish. Nice Work.

This week we also celebrated our students who were chosen for exhibiting the trait of “Respect” for the month of August. We also recognized one Bobcat from each class. They had

lunch with me on Monday behind the curtain on the stage in the MPR. They received a pencil and a pin. They will be receiving a certificate. I also took them to the balcony so they could wave at the other students.

Way to go all of the students who embraced our Trait of the Month and to our responsible Bobcats!

At Ventana Vista, we believe that when staff and parents work together, children can achieve greater success. Family Teacher Teams (FTT) is our initiative to help teachers and families partner on an academic goal. Teachers are getting ready to roll-out their grade level activities for FTT over the next couple weeks. They'll also be sharing strategies and tools that you can use at home to help your student grow. Stay tuned for details from your child's homeroom teacher via Remind.

For the past few weeks Señora Alissa McKaig has been filling in as a long-term substitute for some of our Spanish specials. She retired as a Lieutenant Colonel from the Army and previously taught Spanish at West Point.

Thank you to everyone who came to Bilingual Bingo last Friday. It was a great night of Loteria and Bobcat fun! Thanks to Sra. Alexandra for calling our Loteria and our co-chairs Sarah and Lynnea. Also, thanks to our volunteers - we could not have done it without you all. Monica, Dave, Joanna, Amy and Nita - your help was very much appreciated!
