Staff Spotlight!

This week we are highlighting our media specialist, Mrs. Darge! All our students LOVE Mrs. Darge, what's not to love?! She is always a positive impact on not just the students day, but the staff members as well! You will probably hear students refer to Mrs. Darge as their library teacher. On days 1, 4, and 5 you can find the Kolmar library alive with stories, projects, questions and so much more! When Mrs. Darge isn't here at Kolmar she is over at Covington, and we are missing her! Not only does she foster the students love for reading by doing countless read alouds, she teaches them about authors and illustrators, helps them pick out books to bring home, and incorporates many different games activities into library as well! Students also get to practice and learn different things on their Chromebook with Mrs. Darge. Thank you Mrs. Darge for keeping Kolmar so fun and upbeat!

Classroom Happenings!

3rd grade sure is busy! In Math they are focusing on multiplication, division, and measurement. Wow! In writing they are busy organizing their writing. They are using bold beginnings, sold middles, and wrapping it up with strong endings and conclusions. In reading they are doing a great job finding evidence in the texts they read to support the answers they are giving. They also are doing a lot of work with adjectives!

In Social Studies they are focusing on immigration and geography and how the two are connected. They are learning about things that are defying logic in Science! They are learning about balancing forces and how these forces effect motion. They are learning all about how magnetic force works. Keep it up 3rd grade, you are rockstars!

Community Leaf Raking

Please remember that the Community Leaf Raking event begins at 8:00AM at OLHMS. There will be a bag lunch provided to each participant, along with up to 4 hours of community service for students.

Morning Routine

Please remember that school begins at 8:30 am. Students who arrive after 8:30 a.m. will need to be brought into the office and signed in by their parents. Remember a face mask must be worn when entering the school. If your student is going to be late don’t forget to pack a lunch, lunch orders are placed at 8:50 am.

Also, please remember that the circle drive in front of the school is for student drop off only. In order to keep traffic flowing, it is important that parents not exit their cars. Parents are asked to use the parking lot near the gym or park on the side streets if they would like to walk with their child to the door.
