Dear Flower Valley Community,

Wow! Our Instrumental Music students did an absolutely amazing job at the performance Thursday! It has been wonderful to see how much they have grown musically this year!

We hope to see you Monday evening at 6:30 in the media center for our last PTA meeting of the year. You will be able to meet our new assistant principal, Ms. Haden, and our PTA will elect the new board for next year. Please join me in thanking our outgoing president, Ms. Dominique, for all of the time and passion she has dedicated to support our community!

This week also holds a special day for our 5th graders. They will be visiting their new middle school Tuesday. We are all so excited for this next chapter in our 5th graders' lives, but we are going to miss them next year!

On June 11, 1999, President Clinton issued a proclamation designating June as PRIDE Month. PRIDE Month reminds us of the importance of ensuring all members of our community are welcomed and valued. Let us always remember to treat each other with love and kindness and celebrate our differences because it is our differences that make us the wonderful community that we are.

Our lost and found is full again. If your child is missing something, please come check out the lost and found. We will have all items in the main lobby until the last day of school.

Notification about picking up student medications went out in Thursday folders. If you have any questions, please contact Ms. Marcel at 240-740-1782.

It is important for us to continuously reflect upon practices as a school community. Your input is a valuable part of this process, and it helps us develop our action plan for next year. Please take a few minutes to complete the survey linked here to help inform our future work as a school community.

Last week, a letter about the anti-racist audit was sent home in Thursday folders. Here is a link to the letter, which can be translated in any language via Google. We look forward to continuing this important work with our entire community in order to best serve all of our students.

If your child is in kindergarten through 4th grade and will not be returning to FVES next year, please email Mrs. Sintetos at Catherine_G_Sintetos@mcpsmd.org.

Vote for the next PTA President and join a meet and greet with our new assistant principal, Ms. Kimberly Haden, at Monday's PTA General Membership meeting! Join us this Monday, June 5th from 6:30 - 8:00PM in the Media Center where Dr. Fish will also discuss the MCPS Anti-Racist audit and how the results impact our work at Flower Valley. Zoom will be available and shared on the PTA listserv.

A reception will immediately follow the ceremony in the Rockville High School cafeteria.

Student Arrival Time: 5:00pm

Please meet in the hall in front of the auditorium.

Dress code: Students should be dressed nicely. Please no jeans, shorts, or sneakers.

MCPS has created a transportation dashboard where you can check on the status of any bus delays or cancellations. Click here to access the dashboard.

If your child is going to be absent, please email your child's teacher and Mrs. Sintetos at Catherine_G_Sintetos@mcpsmd.org or call the office at 240-740-1780. When your child is absent, please send in a note explaining the reason for the absence within 3 days of the return to school. If your child sees the doctor, please bring in a doctor's note.

If your child is going to be arriving late, you need to bring your child to the main office and sign them in. If you will be picking up your child early or changing your child's dismissal process, please let your child's teacher and Mrs. Sintetos or Ms. Peckoo in the main office know in advance.

Anyone visiting FVES must sign in at the main office and bring identification with them. We aren't able to have parents eating with students in the cafeteria due to space, but you can certainly sign your child out for lunch if you would like to enjoy lunch together.
