PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Dear Brookview Families,
ILEARN is a state assessment all 3rd and 4th grade students are required to complete. This assessment replaces ISTEP. We will begin administering the assessments April 22-May 17.
April 15-19 we will administer the practice tests.
Please make sure your child is on time to school and receives plenty of rest at home. We want all of our students to be successful during this testing season.
In service of youth,
Mrs. Price, Principal
RADCLIFFE RESOURCES
BENEFITS OF SLEEP FOR STUDENTS - Part 2
National Sleep Foundation offers the following recommendations for sleep by age.
Infants (4-11 months): Sleep range widened two hours to 12-15 hours
Toddlers (1-2 years): Sleep range widened by one hour to 11-14 hours (previously it was 12-14)
Preschoolers (3-5): Sleep range widened by one hour to 10-13 hours
School age children (6-13): Sleep range widened by one hour to 9-11 hours
Teenagers (14-17): Sleep range widened by one hour to 8-10 hours
Younger adults (18-25): Sleep range is 7-9 hours
Adults (26-64): Sleep range did not change and remains 7-9 hours
Do the math based on when your child wakes up in the morning. (Wakes up at 7:00 a.m. - 10 hours earlier would be a bedtime of 8:30-9:00 p.m.).
It is so important that you and your child get the proper amount of sleep every night! If you have not already, try to create night time habits to help prepare your child’s mind and body to fall asleep. For example: reading a book to them for 15 minutes before bedtime.
Try to steer clear of TV and electronics as this can interfere with sleep habits.

The Indianapolis Urban League is teaming up with The Warren Early Childhood Center to offer a program, Read and Rise, to our parent community. The foundation of the program is aimed at promoting reading and literacy development in the home.
ECC will host three family literacy workshops as outlined below:
Thursday, April 25; 6:00-7:15 p.m.- Focus on Birth to Age 4
Thursday, May 9; 6:00-7:15 p.m.- Focus on Kindergarten and 1st Grade, up to age 7
Thursday, May 23; 6:00-7:15 p.m.- Focus on 2nd Grade and 3rd Grade, up to age 9
The Indianapolis Urban League will teach the workshops, provide dinner, and provide how-to guides for parents and reading materials for children. ECC will provide child care for families whom would otherwise not be able to attend. We hope many of our Warren parents will be able to attend this great program!
