Community Crew News #18
December 15th, 2023
How does our staff crew model and foster academic, character, and high quality expectations? They engage as the lead learners continuously throughout the year.
This week we spotted students examining our staff crews' LEARNER PROFILES we created at the beginning of the year. For our classrooms to personalize learning and differentiate for every student, we know that it begins with them as learners. Stop by our hallway to the library and check out our TEACHER LEARNER PROFILES. We are all CRITICAL THINKERS that are inquisitive learners who can reflectively and critically analyze information. This learner profile lives within our Expeditionary model as they is a close alignment to our practices. Our EL Model is rooted in exceptional practices that are deeply connected to our EUSD Framework for the Future and our Learner Profile.
Congratulations to our EPIC staff, Lana Brady, Sierra Satterstrom, and Lori Cisterna were presented grant awards from the Escondido Education Foundation. The Primacy of Self-Discovery - Inspiring Literacy in Our School Community "one Book" At a Time and Making Reading Engaging were the two grants award to foster a joy of reading and support our learners to get smart by doing good in the world one book at a time.
Escondido Innovation Awards Winners!
Congratulations Satterstrom, Cisterna, and Brady
Staff Crew Meeting
In this Thursday Den meeting, our learners examined our Design Principle of Collaboration and Competition, individual development and how group development are integrated so that the value of friendship, trust, and group action is clear. Students are encouraged to compete, not against each other, but with their own personal best and with rigorous standards of excellence. In dens, students were able to determine the meaning of Collaboration and Competition as they engaged in team competitions to build the longest chain with on piece of paper, 1 pair of scissors, and 1 glue stick.
I am grateful for the opportunity to inspire students to discover their unlimited potential through Excellence, Perseverance, Integrity, and Compassion. Together we are creating an EPIC school.
We are in this together and believe, We Are Crew, not passengers.
Always in crew,
Tina Meglich, Principal

EUSD School of Choice Transfer Applications for 2024-2025 school Year is now Live! Typically, students attend the schools that serve the neighborhood attendance areas in which they live. However, EUSD does provide attendance options for parents and students in order to help meet the diverse needs and interests of students within the district. Students may apply for a School Choice Intradistrict Transfer to any school in the district. Submitting an application for School Choice does not guarantee enrollment in the desired school(s). Students who submit a school choice application by January 31, 2024, will be included in a random, unbiased lottery drawing. You will be notified by email during Spring 2024 regarding the results of the lottery. Your child’s application either will be approved or placed on a waiting list following the School Choice lottery. You will receive notification as to when the wait list is closed for the current school year, and you will be provided information as to how to submit a School Choice application for the following year. A separate application must be completed for each student who is applying for School Choice. A student who has a sibling(s) who is already attending a school of choice must also apply for School Choice and be approved in order to have the siblings attend the same choice school. Students who attend another school under the School Choice option are not provided transportation. If you would like to learn more about a specific EUSD school before submitting your application, you can visit our schools page by clicking on the link below. https://registration.powerschool.com/family/ActionForms/Public/38522 If you would like assistance submitting a School of Choice application, please visit our Family Engagement Center in Room 5 or contact Xochitl Maldonado at (760) 432-2435 EXT 12005.

Birthday Announcements
You may ask how do we celebrate birthdays at Conway?
We have two unique ways that we celebrate.
First, in the main office you can fill out a form to have your child's birthday acknowledged on our electronic marquee to display a 24 hour message. The cost is only $5. If you cannot make it into the office, you can complete the electronic form https://forms.gle/3dMLHhiK5MTXJdpL9
and send in $5 cash and send it in with your learner. If it is a surprise please put it in an envelope addressed to the Conway ASB.
Second, our office staff has added a fun way to acknowledge each student's birthday. Students can visit the office for a special birthday pencil and cougar paw.
