At MSU, we believe that each student has a mission in life. We call it “Mission to Major,” and it's helping students approach college differently. Instead of asking students about selecting a major, we find out what their mission in life is and what kind of driving forces are behind it. What is your "MISSION"?

• Students can apply using the MSU application, the Common App or the Coalition on Scoir application. We don't have a preference, but students should only apply using one.
• As in previous years, our early action application deadline is Nov. 1. This will ensure students receive an admissions decision by Jan. 15. Students who apply after Nov. 1 will receive a decision by March 1. Please encourage your students to apply early, as our application numbers continue to increase and available spaces fill quickly.

It seems everyone is laser-focused on where high school seniors are applying, their essays and their activities; but this is also an important time for high school juniors.

Fall of junior year is the right time to be thinking about and doing many of the following things:

Often, students make incorrect assumptions about what admissions officers want to see in applicants, resulting in inauthentic and contrived application materials." Monday, (9/25) FHS Lecture Room - 6:00 to 7:30 pm

A representative from Oakland University will travel to Fenton High School to provide important information on completing the FAFSA (financial aid form), how the FAFSA form impacts student loans, and other critical Financial Aid information for families with a senior heading to college.

Xello provides students with a platform to save all sorts of information. From winning a competition to researching a career field or college, and to saving important research paper, Xello offers students the opportunity to save all of the important events, memories, and assignments in one place.

This element of the Other People Mindset is so important today due to the increasing number of distractions vying for our time and attention. Phone calls, text messages, emails, social media notifications all have the dangerous capacity to pull us away from the present moment and, what’s most important -- our relationships with other people.

Just like plants need sunlight to grow, our relationships need attention. If we don’t give our attention to the people we’re building relationships with -- whether family members, close friends, or even distant colleagues -- we can’t build those relationships. It’s vitally important that we pick our heads up from our cell phones and truly listen to other people when they’re talking. A positive culture is built on positive relationships -- and we can’t build positive relationships without attention.

The Coca-Cola Scholars Program scholarship is an achievement-based scholarship awarded to students in their final year of high school. Students are recognized for their capacity to lead and serve, as well as their commitment to making a significant impact on their schools and communities. With the 35th class in 2023, the Foundation has provided over 6,750 Coca-Cola Scholars with more than $81 million in educational support. 150 Coca-Cola Scholars are selected each year to receive this $20,000 scholarship. The 2024 application is now open here for students who will graduate during the 2023-2024 academic year. The deadline to apply is Monday, October 2, 2023, by 5 pm Eastern.
