Step 1: Start with an Online Encyclopedia
Encyclopedias give you a little bit of information about a wide range of topics. You can get some basic information about your poet from an encyclopedia. This will give you a place to start and the information you need to ask further questions about your poet and their body of work.

Use the Level 3 Resources in Britannica.

Search for your poet and use the article contents icon at the top of the page to navigate within longer articles.
Your Citation is at the very bottom of the article.
Step 2: Gale Virtual Reference Library and/ or the Literature Resource Center
Once you know the basic information about your poet, you can dig into the literary criticism and other information about the works of your poet.
Gale Virtual Reference Library
The GVRL will offer you a variety of resources such as biographies, critical essays, work overviews, interviews, etc.
To cite the work, use the Citation Tools button on the upper left hand corner of each article.
Literature Resource Center
When searching in the Literature Resource Center, you will have many options for information about your poet and their works including literary criticism, biographies, topic and work overviews, reviews and news, primary sources and literary works, and other media.
Most of the articles provide an MLA citation at the bottom of the article or you can click on the Citation Tools button on the upper right hand side for the citation as well.
