Fall Sports Wrap-up
Log College just wrapped up its Fall Sports Season, and we are excited to recap an outstanding 2023!
Field Hockey
Log College’s field hockey team completed its fall season with a record of 1 win, 4 ties and 5 losses. Our team was very competitive this season. All 5 losses were by no more than 2 goals. Angie C. who was playing field hockey for the first time, dominated as our goalie throughout the season. Ava S, Isabella C, Devyn C, and Sophia J were also first time 8th grade players and contributed meaningful minutes on the defensive end during our season. Megan P, Ella J, Zoey C, Sophia D, and Ava B were team leaders as returning 8th graders. Both coaches, Mr. Swartwood and Miss Kelley are looking forward to our 7th graders stepping up into leadership roles next season.
Boys Soccer
The Log College Boys Soccer Team had a successful season finishing with 6 wins and 2 loses. Our team was composed of excellent young men who embodied what it is to be a student athlete. As a team, we enjoyed the victories and supported each other in our losses. Our strength was adapting to changing circumstances on the field and never given up on each other.
Football
This year Log Football played a tough schedule and had a very successful season. Log’s record was 5 wins and 3 losses with the final victory against Klinger Middle School. Log once again retained the Panther Bowl Trophy with a convincing 44-22 victory. The workouts started in August during a heat wave, which challenged the athletes’ stamina and willpower. No one quit as the coaches preached hard work and dedication, which will make you a winner both on the field and off! Log was led by eighth grade leaders Brayden R, Ayden H, Dylan B, Jerimiah L, Teegan S, and Luke G. These athletes will be missed as they move on to high school to bigger and better achievements! A great job by all!
Cheerleading
Log’s fall cheer season consisted of practicing and preparing for home football games, fall pep rally and our main event; Log/Klinger Football Game.
21 girls learned several chants and more importantly learned when to use offensive and defensive chants throughout the game. In addition, the girls learned how to build stunts safely in the air.
The team was led by 8th graders, Sarah B, Lilian L, Sophia S, Nakiyah S, and Brielle S. These girls kept the team motivated, led by example, and were always willing to do whatever it took to get the job done.
The Log/Klinger performance consisted of a cheer with crowd effective stunts, synchronized tumbling, a dance and an elite level pyramid that left the crowd in awe.
The cheer season will continue into the winter as the team prepares for basketball games.
Volleyball
This volleyball season has been an incredible journey for our middle school girls' teams. Notably, we established our first-ever Junior Varsity team, which has proven to be a fantastic addition to our program. It offered more opportunities for students to experience the game, improve their skills, and develop a deep love for volleyball. It's been heartwarming to witness the growth and enthusiasm of these young players as they've embraced the sport, and we are looking forward to seeing them evolve into the Varsity team in the future.
Our Varsity team has been nothing short of extraordinary this season. They have demonstrated remarkable teamwork, dedication, and unwavering determination throughout the year. The girls' ability to stay focused, learn, and adapt to new challenges, even in the face of adversity, has been inspiring. As their coaches, we couldn't be prouder of the hard work they've put in, their sportsmanship on and off the court, and their incredible progress. We wish them all the best as they continue their journey in volleyball, knowing that their dedication and teamwork will lead them to continued success in the future.
(We do not have an official team pic; if you have one, please send it to coreco@centennialsd.org, and we'll make sure it is added at a later date).
