Do you know an educator - teacher, support staff, nurse, counselor, therapist, CST Member, paraprofessional - who is dedicated, inspiring, and making a difference? If so, please take time to recommend this person for the Educator of the Year Recognition Program by completing the nomination form by the specified deadline. Parent/ Guardians, Students, Colleagues, and community members are encouraged to participate. Educators who have been in Roxbury at least THREE years can be nominated.

Each candidate will be scored based on the criteria below:

• Inspires students of all backgrounds and abilities to learn;
• Serves as an exceptionally skilled and dedicated educator in the school;
• Expresses themselves in an engaging and articulate way;
• Plays an active role in the community as well as school;
• Demonstrates leadership and innovation inside and outside the classroom;
• Has the respect and admiration of students, parents, administrators and colleagues

Staff who have been selected for this recognition are not eligible for re-nomination for five years following their selection as Educator of the Year.

Thursday, April 27, 2023 is “Take Our Children to Work Day.” The New Jersey Department of Education encourages school districts to participate in “Take Our Children to Work Day” activities by giving students credit for attendance (excused absence) and affording them an opportunity to discuss what they have learned once they return to school. In previous years, the day has been a success due to the cooperative efforts of thousands of parents, schools, businesses, organizations and other concerned individuals who demonstrated their interest in children’s education and participation in the work force.

If you are planning on having your child participate in this day by taking your child to work with you, then you will need to report this absence in Genesis. Be sure to make note in the form that highglights that your child is participating in Take Your Child to Works Day. Given the number of students who may be absent on this day, it would also be helpful if you email your child’s teacher so that they can better organize the class's day. Thank you!

April 5th was National Paraprofessional Day and it was the perfect day to express gratitude for all that our Paraprofessionals do to support our students! If you have a message that you would like shared with all of our Paraprofessionals, please feel free to email me your message and I will be sure to share it during Morning Announcements when we return. Additionally, please feel free to send a personalized email to a paraprofessional that has made a significant impact on your child's life. Thank you!

We have seen an uptick in damage to Chromebooks, both accidental and intentional. Please remind and reinforce with your student at home that their Chromebook is the property of the Roxbury Public School District, and they are responsible for the appropriate use and stewardship thereof during their time in Roxbury.

Intentional/avoidable damage that cannot be repaired on-site may result in fines and holds placed on your Genesis account. As a reminder, Chromebook insurance does not cover intentional damage. Additionally, due to a higher-than-usual volume of repairs, loaners may not be available while the device is being repaired/replaced. This can lead to a gap in learning and the additional stress of completing make-up assignments. Let's avoid all of this by taking good care of those Chromebooks.

Roxbury Township Public Schools, a K-12 school district preparing the children of today for tomorrow, has set its in-person Kindergarten registration dates for the 2023/2024 school year. Roxbury Township Public Schools offers a full-day kindergarten program designed to develop knowledge and skills in the physical, social, emotional, and cognitive areas. Our goal is to help children develop skills and strategies that will help them learn and establish a foundation for lifelong success in education. The program allows more time for students to address curriculum in depth and allows teachers to provide additional activities in learning.

Online registration for Kindergarten is now open. Parents are required to register their child at their home school. If the home school is unknown, please contact the Transportation Department at 973-584-6756 and based on your address, they can let you know what school your child should be attending.
