AVA Family Update
October 20, 2023
Good morning AVA Students and Families,
As per usual, I have next week's schedule our usual guidance and community updates below. The guidance update contains important dates for Seniors applying for early action/acceptance to colleges.
I have contacted each student and their family individually this week via email if I am expecting you in person for our MCAS retest dates in November. If you did not get an individualized email, you don't have to worry about it. If you have any questions, please reach out. We will be scheduling google meets to prep students on November 1 and 2. It will be very helpful for all students who are taking the test(s) to attend.
Our Trimester 1 Progress Reports will be published Wednesday.
Lastly, our Homecoming Dance is coming up. The information is attached below.
Thank you for your time.

Seniors - Second Notice
There are many things to do prior to your graduation, even if you don't plan to be participating in person. As with all things AVA, you are entitled to participate in any and all in person AHS and community events.
A very detailed letter is attached below. Your first task (making sure we have your name on your diploma correctly) is due on November 1.

NCAA Registration
This is a kind reminder to students and families who are interested in participating in collegiate sports through the NCAA. Please register online at the Eligibility Center website (linked HERE) sooner than later. Although you may register even after high school graduation, we strongly recommend doing so while still enrolled in high school to ensure a smoother transfer of school records and information. AVA's CEEB code for NCAA registration is: 220067.

Little Lending Library
The AHS Library resources are available to all AVA students and families! They just recently ordered some college and career related material, including ASVAB/SAT/ACT study books and Career field ones. Any AVA student interested in borrowing an AHS Library book, please email Ms Nellie (below) and we will help you make that happen.
Juniors and Seniors
AHS is still hosting several college visits! All AVA students are welcomed to join us on campus or request a virtual visit. Please continue to check the College and Career Visits page HERE. Upcoming visits include Boston College, UMass Boston, and Quinnipiac University. Directions on how to sign up for visits are also on the page linked above.
Seniors - Early Deadlines
If you/your child is applying early to a college/university, please remember to complete the Transcript Request Form at least 10 school days before the early deadline. Here is a quick reference chart and, once again, the helpful senior checklists prepared by the AHS Guidance Dept.
