Patriot Peek at the Week News
Week of January 17th-20th
Dear Wolf Ridge Students and Families,
Patriot pride is going strong! I hope by now you have all had the chance to meet Prescott the Patriot Mascot at one of our home athletic events or outside greeting students as they enter Wolf Ridge. Check out below for more information about how Prescott got his name and pictures of him at our 8th Grade Night and volleyball home opener this past week.
Students did a great job first semester and are already back into a great school routine this semester. It takes a village! I would like to thank all of our families for your support, diligence in working with your child at home and ensuring your child is at school each day ready to learn. The temperatures each day have fluctuated quite a bit. Please be sure your child wears layers and comes with a coat to school. If you need any assistance in providing a coat, please contact Ms. Scott, our school nurse, as she has several brand new coats to provide those that may be in need. Again, we are in a partnership with our families to ensure all of our students have the resources and supports needed to succeed.
There will be no school on Monday for Martin Luther King Jr. Day. I hope everyone enjoys the long weekend. Take care!
Your Principal,
Ms. Ronen
No School on January 16th for MLK, Jr. Day
Meet Prescott the Patriot Mascot
William Prescott (February 20, 1726 – October 13, 1795) was an American colonel in the Revolutionary War who commanded the patriot forces in the Battle of Bunker Hill. Prescott is known for his order to his soldiers, "Do not fire until you see the whites of their eyes", such that the rebel troops may shoot at the enemy at shorter ranges, and therefore more accurately and lethally, and so conserve their limited stocks of ammunition. It is debated whether Prescott or someone earlier coined this memorable saying.
