Check out all of this beautiful artwork! The Elementary art room is a busy place. Below are some examples from each grade and what we are working on.

• 5th grade students finished their “Adjectives” drawing and started a clay unit with “Singing Stone” as their 1st clay project. Pictures will be coming!

• 6th grade students learned about Greek culture and art, as they worked on their own “Greek Vases” inspired by images from their everyday life. Now they are starting their “Carving and Printing” unit.

• 7th grade students finished their “Portraits inspired by the style of Tim Burton”, learning about creating dramatic values using shading. They are now starting “Creative Boxes” learning carving clay techniques.

• 8th grade students are learning about mandala designs from around the world. They collaborated to create radial designs out of various oblects and are now designing and drawing their individual/personal mandalas.
  

Our annual district art show will be held at the Collins Perley Sports Complex from January 16th -21st during normal business hours. Come check out a selection of artwork from the Maple Run Unified School District!

Dress for all Grades: Wear something nice. The goal is for you to reuse dress clothes your student has, or buy something that you will get multiple uses out of.

Hello Orchestra Families,

As you have heard, I’ll be out for a paternity leave starting sometime this December and lasting through early February. We weren’t able to find someone to cover my position fully while I’m out, however, other music teachers in the district have stepped up in a big way and added more to their plates so that we’re able to keep orchestra classes going while I’m away. We won’t be able to offer it as often, but every student will be able to get orchestra at least once a week. Here is the planned schedule for while I am away.

5th Grade

Monday 1:45-2:25 in band room with Mr. Allen and full band

Tuesday Lessons at usual WIN A/B times with Mr. Allen.

Thursday Win C 1:45-2:25 Art with Mrs. Katarina

6th Grade

All 6th grade will meet Fridays during Win 2 from 2:25 to 3pm in band room with Mr. Allen

7th Grade

7th grade will meet Friday Win 1 from 8:45-9:15 in Mr. Charpentier’s room with Mr. Bushey

8th Grade

8th grade will meet Mon. and Fri. from 8:15-8:40 in the band room with Mr. Allen
