PRINCIPAL'S NOTE
Last week ended with a power outage on Friday! Luckily, we made it until 2:00. Thanks to Kyle Tobias, RSU 1 maintenance person, who came down and brought a generator. While we didn't have many lights, it does power the well and allows us to use the bathroom.
We began our week by practicing our first lockdown drill of the school year. Chief Skroski had high praise for our staff and students! All of the classroom doors were shut, the shade on the doors was pulled, the lights were off, and most important, everyone was very quiet. The drill lasted only a few minutes and we went on with our day. We will practice again in January.
Several classes will be taking field trips this week and next. Fourth and fifth-grade students will travel to Pineland Farm to visit the Malaga Cemetery and do some orienteering. Pre-K and Kindergarten students will be going to the Noble Hill Preserve.
This a friendly reminder that costumes and masks are not permitted in school on Halloween. We will celebrate by having healthy smoothies at snack time. Thanks to our PTA for providing this treat. If you are an approved volunteer and would like to help out in making and delivering the smoothies, please contact Callie Wells: its.callie@gmail.com.
OCTOBER IS FIRE SAFETY MONTH
Be sure to change the batteries and test your fire/smoke/carbon monoxide alarms, remember stop, drop and roll, and practice a fire drill with family and friends, so you know what to do in the event of a fire at home.

BUS DRIVER APPRECIATION
We’ve chosen October 28th as our Bus Driver Appreciation Day, though every day we can show how much we appreciate them by being polite, safe and always following the bus rules. Feel free to write or draw them a note of appreciation and thanks for getting us safely to and from school every day.
