November 2020 Edition
Principal Message: Students Back on Campus!
We are so incredibly happy to have welcomed back students for in-person learning these past few weeks!!
With the hybrid learning model comes new expectations, routines, and procedures. Our students have done a fantastic job of adhering to our health guidelines and have seemingly settled into this "new normal" as we continue to navigate school during our COVID times.
Thanks to a lot of people who have helped us prepare for an in-person return, that first day of welcoming students back into our hallways and classroom was truly special. The image here is of our after school athletic training for our Track students, and is just another example of slowly opening ourselves back to being able to offer a familiar way of life for our students.
In this edition, we will share some important pieces of information. Please look through our newsletter and if there are any questions, feel free to reach out at 509-522-3312 or you can email me at raguilar@cpps.org.
Thank you and Go Hawks!

For Seniors Only: CPHS Second Annual Event "Keep Calm and Apply to College"
It is so wonderful to have students back in the hallways of the school, on the fields and courts for athletics practices, and getting back to hand on education! As we continue to settle into a new normal of hybrid schedule, time still moves forward and graduation will be here before we know it. The counseling department at College Place High School wants to ensure that we are graduating our seniors with as many opportunities for success as possible. Last year, we started a new tradition at the high school of spending an entire day applying to colleges and scholarships, writing college essays, and filling out financial aid documents. This turned out to be an amazing experience for all who took advantage of the help. We want to make sure the class of 2021 has the same opportunities that their predecessors did.
On Friday, November 6th, College Place High School will be hosting our second “Keep Calm and Apply to College” day in the CPHS Commons. As we are in a hybrid schedule, seniors will come to the high school during their normally scheduled time to participate in this event.
We invite At Home Learners, SEATech, and Running Start students to join our PM Session starting at 12:15pm. Please click the link to the Google Form questionnaire which we will use as the signup. Despite everything 2020 has thrown at us, every senior’s “High School and Beyond Plan” is vitally important for graduation and post-secondary educational planning and I encourage every college-bound senior to take advantage of this opportunity to dedicate some time to take steps towards their future goals.

Band in a COVID era? Bring on the Drums!
While students are still practicing their wind instruments at home (COVID restrictions currently hinder our ability for wind instruments to be played at school) Mr. Morasch turned to upside down buckets, garbage bins, and viola, we have a drumline!
The beat goes on here at College Place High School! Go Hawks!
School Resources for Students Dealing with Substance Abuse
We are fortunate to have Ms. Malia Lewis as our Recovery Support Ally from Trilogy Services. She is a resource for our CPHS students. Students can access her services through a referral from our counseling department, or students can simply stop in and say hi. Her office is right next to our Gear-Up Coordinator, at the base of the indoor stairs.
