A Message from the Principal
This month we have been working hard on grade-level skills as well as practicing expectations and safety. We have had Team Convocations for the Red Pandas and Goal Getters to practice assembly and hallway expectations. Tuesday the Dream Team will meet. Students got to earn blue tickets for practicing skills. Each month we will have a new focus. At the end of the month, the winning team will earn a party. Ask your child what team they are on and what expectation we are practicing this month.
We have practiced our fire, lockdown, and severe weather procedures. We stress to students how important it is to pretend the real event is happening so that if something unfortunate does happen, we are all ready. We will have fire drills monthly. The other two drills happen quarterly.
Students finished their NWEA assessments over the last two weeks. This data is used by teachers to prepare individualized and small group instruction for students. We will use flexible groups to teach skills that students may be missing, so they can master grade-level standards.
Enjoy the last bit of summer weather before fall is upon us!

Decatur Township Culture Guide
E= Events: We cannot control things that happen
R= Response: We can control our response to the event
O=Outcome: Having a proper response will get the desired outcome.
This concept is powerful for all of us. Daily, many things happen that are out of our control. We can lash out or we can pause, think, and then respond. Pausing for reflection allows us to get the outcome that we need and want.
