"Drive-in Movie Day"
On January 18th & 19th, students had a "Drive-In Movie Day" for "letter D" in Elsa Brown's Dorr Elementary 3 year old and 4 year old preschool programs. The students creatively handmade their own cars out of cardboard boxes at home and brought them in for our Drive-In Movie. Such fun!
Coding and Computer Science
Students in Mrs. Nykerk's class were also excited to have Mr. Wade Mattis, the Teacher Technology Consultant for the district, come into their classroom! Mrs. Nykerk jumped on the opportunity and offer from Mr. Mattis to teach Coding and Computer Science in the classroom! He has developed eight 45-minute coding lessons that he is eager to teach and share with students. Students were very engaged and such great listeners!! They learned about what coding is, how code is written, and then students got to practice writing their own code! They used the app Swift Playgrounds, to move a character named Byte around a puzzle world, performing tasks. Students had to use listening skills, reading skills, problem solving skills, creativity, and patience on the tasks/levels. Such a fun opportunity!
