Patriot Peek at the Week News
AUGUST 30th - SEPTEMBER 3rd
Dear Wolf Ridge Students and Families,
This past week is why we say that Wolf Ridge swims together! It takes all of us working together to ensure that we keep as many students as possible in-person at school. Due to multiple students and staff members testing positive for Covid, many students had to quarantine or are currently under a quarantine order from the health department.
We need your help to keep our students in school. Please do not send your child to school if experiencing symptoms or if a sibling is experiencing any symptoms of Covid. Please see below for more information about symptoms to monitor. It is also important that students are sent to school with a properly fitting, clean mask. When contact tracing, students can be 3 feet apart when wearing a mask properly. If students are unmasked at lunch or do not wear their mask properly in the classroom, then the close contact distance is within 6 feet. We want to minimize the number of close contacts so that fewer students have to quarantine.
It takes each of us doing our part to ensure student and staff safety. Let's work together!

Coronavirus: What You Need to Know
If you have any questions, please email me at sronen@bhcusd.org or call 618-585-4831.
- Stop the Spread:
Fever (100.4 degrees or higher), New Onset of Moderate to Severe Headache, Shortness of Breath, New Cough, Sore Throat, Vomiting, Fatigue from Unknown Cause, Body or Muscle Aches
- It is important that siblings of any child experiencing symptoms also stay home.
- Please ensure your child comes to school with a properly fitting, clean mask. Masks should be able to stay above the nose.
- We encourage hand washing and sanitizing often at school. Please review proper handwashing with your child.
- Contact Tracing:
Below are the guidelines that we must follow when contact tracing at school this year:
- When wearing a mask, students are only considered a close contact if within 3 feet of a Covid positive individual for more than 15 minutes within a 24 hour period.- When not wearing a mask, students are considered a close contact if within 6 feet of a Covid positive individual for more than 15 minutes within a 24 hour period. This would only be while eating or during band at our school.
- Students are not considered close contacts while outdoors.
- If your child is considered a close contact, the health department will order a 10 day quarantine from the last date of exposure. (The length of quarantine was reduced from 14 days to 10 this year.)
Please know that I hate having to make phone calls to unfortunately notify you when your child is a close contact and will have to transition to remote learning. We are doing everything we can at Wolf Ridge to minimize the number of close contacts.
- Remote Learning:
- Quarantines for students will not exceed 10 days from the last date of exposure. In most cases, this means only six or less days of remote learning due to weekends.
- Many school districts did not provide any live lessons last year. We are proud that our school district did! This year, teachers may or may not provide live lessons. However, we will provide learning materials and be available to support your child while learning at home. Your child's teacher will communicate with you about specific learning activities and materials needed.
- At this time, PK-3 will have learning packets available for pickup during remote learning. Grades 4-7 will have all learning materials on Google Classroom. Many of our upper grade teachers are providing live lessons, too.
- If your child has an IEP, our special education resource teachers will be contacting you to ensure instruction, services, and accommodations are provided.
- If you have any questions, please reach out to your child's teacher via email. All of our teachers are very understanding and willing to help during temporary periods of remote learning for those quarantined.
PICTURE DAY IS SEPTEMBER 17th
We will take student pictures for our yearbook and fall sports pictures on this day. While you can order online at anytime using the information below, picture forms will be sent home on Monday, September 13th.
COMING SOON! NEW CARLINE ENTRANCE
While not complete yet, we will have a new entrance for our Wolf Ridge carline very soon. We hope this new entrance will help to remove the many vehicles that are usually waiting on Alton street. Vehicles will still exit the carline the same way as before. We will let you know once it is ready!
