Principal's Message
Hello Families,
As part of our continuous efforts to meet the needs of all learners, we will be launching PIE in classrooms this week. PIE is short for Practice, Intervention, and Enrichment. PIE creates a block of time dedicated to providing all children with practice, intervention, and/or enrichment in literacy or math for 30 minutes, four days per week in addition to their regularly scheduled math and literacy time. We know children learn differently and at different rates and as a result, PIE is designed to increase the amount of time our learners are engaged in targeted instruction.
The Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction recently released results from the Wisconsin Forward exam given to students during the spring of 2023 and Oconomowoc Area School District (OASD) students continued to make gains.
OASD students made significant improvements on the Forward Exam, with these noteworthy accomplishments:
- OASD English language arts (ELA) scores have increased by 9.6% since 2019.
- OASD math scores have increased by 9.7% since 2019.
- OASD students achieved improvements in both ELA and math scores for 2019, 2021, 2022, and 2023. Please note that Forward Exams were not administered in 2020.
For more information on the state assessments given to OASD students last spring click here.
