CHEERFAIR PARTICIPANTS:

Girls and boys in grades K-5 are invited to join high school cheerleaders to perform at half-time of the football game on Friday, September 10th, versus California. The game starts at 7:00 p.m. An announcement will be made for the girls to meet at the scoreboard side of the track prior to half-time. All participants are free to leave at the conclusion of the performance. A practice will be held on Wednesday, September 8th, from 3:15-4:30 p.m. in the Elementary Gym.

We had a few asking if they could purchase our Home and School character shirts. We have opened that up to anyone that might wish to order. Shirts are $15 with an additional $1 for plus sizes (XL - $16, XXL - $17, XXL - $18).

Each week, students in grades K-5 will participate in a Mindful Moment at the beginning of Counseling. This will include them using a specific mindfulness technique. We will mostly be reviewing techniques that were taught last year. This way, the students can practice using the techniques that were taught already and become more familiar with them. However, there may be instances when we teach them a new technique. In this document, we will provide the name of the specific mindfulness technique that is reviewed and/or taught during Counseling and a brief description of the technique. The document will be updated with the most recent technique that is reviewed and/or taught. The most recent technique will be listed first.

The Blair Oaks Intermediate School Counselor is looking for volunteers to represent Blair Oaks Intermediate on our District Counseling Advisory Committee. This committee is designed to provide feedback on program goals and brainstorm ideas on how to continue to provide the best care for our students. This committee meets twice yearly, once in the fall and once in the spring at 3:15 p.m. If you are interested in being a part of this committee please reach out to Ms. Katnik, our Intermediate School Counselor. Today marks Day #10 of the 2021-2022 school year at Blair Oaks! If you are counting, there are only 164 days to go. What a great start it has been! With the opening of phase 1 of the new high school and a fourth building on our campus, the first two weeks have been a blur of excitement.

In our reopening plan for the 2021-2022 school year, the District opened the year at a Green/Yellow Hybrid Level with a reevaluation to occur on day #10 of local school community transmission. As of Friday, September 3, the Blair Oaks COVID-19 Dashboard shows one student in grades K-12 currently in isolation. The dashboard is available on the school district website at www.blairoaks.k12.mo.us. Based on current data, the school district will be in the green level. We will continue to evaluate our data throughout the school year. We appreciate your patience and support as we navigate through the challenges presented again this school year. We are Blair Oaks!

Parents as Teachers is a home visiting program offered at no charge for Blair Oaks residents. Parents as Teachers promotes optimal early development, learning, and health of children by supporting and engaging their parents and caregivers. Before we invest money to purchase a new piano for the auditorium, we wanted to reach out to families to see if anyone knew of anyone who had one in excellent condition. We have had offers of donations in the past, but unfortunately we didn't have the space to store it at that time. If anyone has any connections of others we might talk to, please feel free to pass that along as well.
