Spirit Week!
March 6-9 will be Spirit Week.
Participate Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday for a chance to PIE THE PRINCIPAL/COUNSELOR during Thursday's assembly! Check in with STUCO at lunch to have your name entered for wearing your Spirit gear. Two students per grade will be chosen, one to pie Mr. Salsgiver and one to pie Ms. Garth. One staff member will be chosen to pie Mr. Salsgiver. Winners will be drawn during announcements Thursday morning. Hats are welcome all days.
Orchestra Festival March 8th
The South Area Orchestra Festival is this Wednesday, March 8th at 7:00 in the BV High south gym for “A Night at the Movies”!
Students need to bring their folding music stand, instrument, and music, dressed in concert black. We have a rehearsal right before the concert: 7th/8th graders need to be in their seat ready to go at 5:30 and 6th graders need to be ready at 6:00.
Small Groups Interest Survey
Hello from Blue Valley Middle School’s Counseling department! As part of our comprehensive counseling program, we offer small group counseling. Often, students who share a common concern find it helpful to meet to share ideas and gather support in a group setting. These groups will meet once a week during FLEX for 6 weeks. Groups will consist of no more than 8 students and will be a blend of peer role models and students that can benefit from the topic. Groups consist of students of the same grade. We are currently offering groups to support students socially with a focus on respectful interactions, how to communicate with others, setting personal boundaries, appropriate social media use, and how to solve problems in peer conflict. If you are interested in your student participating, please complete the google form below.
KCATM & Mathletics Team Competition April 1st
KCATM contest and Mathletics back again this year! 10 THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT BLACK & GOLD ON APRIL 1
1. The Early Bird deadline is approaching! Tickets to Black & Gold are only $40 if purchased by March 9 and $50 starting March 10. To buy tickets, click here.
2. Raffle tickets are on sale now for a football autographed by two-time Super Bowl and NFL MVP Patrick Mahomes and a jersey signed by eight-time Pro Bowler Travis Kelce. Tickets are $20 each or 6 for $100. You can own a piece of history and raise money for BVHS! You do not need to attend the event to buy raffle tickets. To purchase, click here.
3. This year we are hosting a pickleball tournament featuring a celebrity team headed by Matt Besler, former Sporting KC player and member of the US National Soccer Team. Each pickleball team is guaranteed three games—two round-robin games, then single elimination—and players are welcome to continue playing on the remaining open indoor courts after their tournament play has concluded. The pickleball package is $150 and includes three hours of pickleball and event tickets for two people. To register, click here.
4. We will be showing the Men's Final Four basketball game during the event in both the party room and the pickleball courts. Come watch with your friends!
5. Suggested attire is Tiger Casual. Wear your favorite BVHS tees and sweats!

9. We were able to secure an extra hour in our event space, so please note that Black & Gold will actually end at 11:00, not 10:00.
10. The auction will go live online on March 21. You do not need to attend the event to bid on auction items. Watch for a notification when we go live to take advantage of our Buy it Now options.

Blue Valley Summer Explorations enrollment opens March 20
Looking to add a little STEAM to your summer? Try out our “STEAMing into Summer” course. Are you interested in designing games? Sign up for “Game On” and challenge yourself to a new game. These are just a few examples of the array of opportunities available through Blue Valley’s Summer Explorations program, designed to engage students in learning through hands-on experiences and lots of fun. Enrollment for the one-week sessions will begin at 8 a.m. March 20 and remain open until 4 p.m. April 3. All summer programs take place in person unless otherwise noted.
