CC Mason IB World School
Mason Memo - August 21, 2022
Who We Are
We at CC Mason IB World School collaborate to build a community of learners where ALL students are challenged to be knowledgeable, caring, and principled. Our mission is to produce globally-minded citizens who serve and lead our future.
First Week Message
Closed Campus
Every year the campus closes for two weeks to allow our students, staff, and community to settle into routines. For the next two weeks, the campus will be closed to allow for us to work through our own systems as well as make plans/adjustments to adhere to the most recent safety requirements of the state. We also look at this as an opportunity for our students to build independence and confidence as they navigate their new year. There may be times in which visitors are permitted due to required meetings, emergency situations, etc. If you need to pick up your child early or drop off any items, you may do so in the secure vestibule and our front office staff will be happy to assist.
Car Rider
Car Rider line has been exceptionally long, almost an hour from the time of dismissal. It is imperative that we decrease this time to approximately 15 minutes. In order to expedite this process for our community, we need your help. We are now making it a requirement moving forward that you download the SDM app. If it is not feasible for you to download the app, please make a permanent change to either North or South Walker. You can call the office or email Shannon.Darby@leanderisd.org to do so. Please take time this weekend to troubleshoot the app. If necessary, uninstall the app and reinstall. We find this helpful for those that have had issues with it initially. We will spend this next week communicating this requirement and asking those still having trouble to make a permanent change no later than Friday if it is not worked out.
Once you enter the carline, open the app and scan the QR code. Staff will be present with QR codes for you to carry in your vehicle. Please be mindful of the movement and flow of cars entering and exiting the car line. Please be considerate of others and pay attention to the flow of the line as well as alternating cars turning in from both the southbound and northbound directions off Lakeline.
If it is not feasible for you to download the app, the following options are available as alternatives to Car Rider.
Park off of Country Squire and walk through the gate to the North Walker location. Please do not block driveway of any residents.
Park off of culdesac on Comfort Street and walk through the gate to the South Walker location. Please do not block driveway of any residents.
Other helpful Car Rider Tips include:
For arrival, prepare kids to unbuckle seat belts prior to entering the loading/unloading area.
For pick up, If you need to assist your child with buckling, please pull all the way forward to complete the buckling process.
Consider placing car seats on the right side of the vehicle. It is not safe to have to load/unload kids from the left side of the vehicle.
Prepare kids ahead of loading area to get backpacks, water bottles, jackets, etc. ready prior to stopping to unload.
Bus Rider
If you have not created an account with SMART Tag, please do so ASAP. Information on how to set up an account is outlined below. Our transportation department is working day and night to build routes. As new students enroll and access bus service, this creates the need for route adjustments, etc. Please be patient and consider an alternative mode of pick up until routes are established. We hope to have all routes built in the next week or two. We are pleased to share that we have decreased our loading time for buses from nearly one hour to 16-18 minutes. We hope to maintain safe and efficient loading of our buses.
North and South Walkers
Parents picking up South Walkers, your child will be escorted across the parking lot by an adult and meet you at the gate adjacent to the south parking lot. This will help us keep all our Mustangs safe while avoiding congestion in the limited space surrounding the bus lane and building exit.New Information

Counseling Support
Our district counseling office was onsite all week helping us welcome back our Mustangs! We appreciate their support. Moving forward, we welcome Heather Mossell to our campus as support in the interim while we search for the best counselor for Mustang Nation. Ms. Mossell is currently supporting our district's virtual learning academy as their elementary school counselor. She will likely office out of Mason most days of the week but we are still working to finalize her schedule. In the interim, you can contact Ms. Mossell at Heather.Mossell@leanderisd.org for assistance and guidance from our counseling office.

More Important Info
SMART TAG
The Leander ISD Transportation Department uses SMART Tag – a system that provides accurate, near real-time monitoring of where and when students load onto and unload off of their school bus – to help promote student safety and security, keeping parents, school administrators and the district’s transportation department more informed.
Bus riders are issued a SMART card, which they scan as they get on and off the bus.
SMART Tag Parent Portal
Parents and guardians can go to the SMART Tag Parent Portal and select Register to begin the registration process. Once registered, parents and guardians can sign up for SMART Alerts to receive a text message notification 10 to 15 minutes before the bus arrives at their child’s bus stop. While on the bus, the Parent Portal also provides a live map to see bus’ location in near real time.
To complete the registration, you will need the following:
- The campus name of your child
- Your child’s student ID number
- Your child’s date of birth
