Staff Spotlight!
This week we are highlighting our awesome day time custodian, Mr. Gallegos. Mr. Gallegos is keeping Kolmar running and making it the amazing, safe place it is for our staff and students. He is here before everyone each morning making sure everything is ready to go for the day. He is always busy, fixing things for the staff or students, repairing things throughout the building, and helping any staff member or student with anything they might need. We are grateful for Mr. Gallegos every month of the year, but we can't help but be a little extra thankful during these Winter months when he is out there with the snowblower, shovel, and salt, making it possible for us all to get to and from school safely. Thank you for everything you do, Mr. Gallegos!
Classroom Happenings!
This week we are highlighting one of the students all time favorite places to be, the gym! There is always so much going on in our P.E. classes. The students follow different units based on different activities like basketball, floor hockey, cup stacking, and so much more! One of the most popular P.E. activities is fun Friday. This happens every Friday and students have all different activities and equipment to choose from!
An extra exciting thing happening in P.E. is the Jump Rope for Heart event. This will be taking place next Thursday, February 17th! The students are so excited to participate in this event. They will be jumping the whole class to support the American Heart Association!
Arrival and Dismissal Traffic
Please use caution around the campus while dropping students off in the morning and while picking them up in the afternoon. The snowbanks from the plows have narrowed the streets and sidewalks increasing congestion. Please be courteous to those behind you by pulling forward and continuing on as soon as possible. Also, please be extra careful as students are exiting and boarding the buses.
Family Conferences
Family Conferences will be held on February 24 (5:00-8:00 p.m.) and February 25 (11:30 a.m.-6:30 p.m.). Parents will once again be able to schedule their conferences using Skyward Family Access.

Illinois 5Essentials Survey
Students and teachers across Illinois now have the opportunity to participate in the ninth annual statewide Illinois 5Essentials Survey. This survey is designed to generate a detailed picture of the inner workings of your child’s school. As a parent, this opportunity will allow you to share your thoughts on the important elements of school effectiveness. Additionally, your 4th-8th grade student will be asked about their experiences in school to help give school leaders critical student input and help develop future school improvement plans. If you would like to view the student survey questions or opt-out your student please complete the form found at: d123.org/five. You and your student's identity and survey responses will be kept completely confidential and anonymous. To get started with the survey head to d123.org/five.
