SISD Weekly Update
Week of May 18, 2020
Message from the Superintendent
What a school year it’s been for Snyder ISD! With adversity comes the opportunity for success. We have lived through this statement by overcoming challenges and achieving successes. This year teachers, families, and students have come together to fight for our schools and persevere through a global pandemic. We appreciate each of you for rallying around our students and our schools during this time. Thank you.
I hope you all will join us for the graduation parade on Friday, May 22, at 7 pm. We, as educators, are ready to celebrate the seniors. Born in the 9/11 era and graduating during a global pandemic, this graduating class is no stranger to adversity. However, we will not let the circumstances diminish their accomplishments. While abiding by social distancing guidelines, let’s cheer on the Class of 2020 as they parade through Towle Park.
Summer learning loss is a concern, and when we return in the fall, we will have essentially had two summers. We are excited to offer five different virtual summer camps and programs to keep all students engaged. Although we have achieved a relatively high student participation engagement rate during the COVID-19 closure, we know some students have fallen behind. The summer programs will help bridge some of those gaps.
With the uncertainty caused by COVID-19 we really do not know what the next school year will look like, but what I do know is that we are committed to next year being an awesome year for Snyder ISD. We are preparing for a variety of scenarios for the fall and will keep you posted on any developments throughout the summer. SISD teachers and staff are committed and eager to help students achieve their best when school resumes.
I hope everyone stays safe, healthy, and has a great summer. Thanks for partnering with us to ensure success for every child.
Sincerely,
Eddie Bland, Ed.D.
