Projet d'art
by Lex Martinez
Quarter #1 - Color Wheel
My color wheel is a project given to me by Ms.Hertz, my Art Teacher.
The process of my project was to copy the color wheel's template onto my canvas and use tempera paint to mix and create the different colors on sections of my color wheel.
I placed the Yin Yang in the middle to depict the color wheel as a gong and a sign of peace. The various strokes around the color wheel are inspired by Japanese paint strokes.
Quarter #2 - "Mind Roots"
I wanted to try my hand at drawing and painting.
For this, I chose a textured canvas and acrylic paint.
With this project, I should have made a better choice with my materials. The use of the textured canvas made it difficult to draw on the canvas to develop a guideline for my painting. The use of acrylic paint gave me the added difficulting of mixing the paint to create the colors I wanted. Acrylic paint as a "plastic-y" like thickness which makes it goopy, I was not used to this from previously using tempera paint
Quarter #3 - "Tailoring"
The idea for this project was to try my hand at something I had a real interest for and that was clothing. I wanted to create a shirt or try my hand at making a pair of linen pants, something that wasn't currently in store but seasonally ready-to-wear; but with the time period and the resources I had at hand, it wouldn't have been created.
Instead, I challenged myself to tailor my pants and dye a pair of black pants once again.
Tailoring was pretty simple and easy, it takes a steady hand and pure patience which I was ready for. I want to try this once more to better my seams and stitching abilities.
Dyeing was a little time-consuming which didn't result in a good outcome as the dye came out in one wash. I would like to redo this in the future.
Growth & Reflection
I've gone from creating drawings and paintings to making physical, personal, and wearable art which is something I want to pursue as a hobby or an actual profession.

I've learned that making great art takes time, patience, and a creative will. Without these three qualities, you cannot make great art. These qualities are not difficult to master or obtain because everyone has a creative will.
Through art, I've learned that I have the power to create anything I put my mind to. Each painting I've made was built from my mind as well as to tailor my pants!
Proud Project

My biggest weakness that needs more growth is time management/procrastination. It's such a bad habit to procrastinate and finalize projects late minute. It is must better to lay out your projects ahead of time to have a cushion for alterations in original plans.
Next time...
has
a turn out of being FLAWLESS. I want to take this method of creation and personalize it to create similar art pieces
