Monday Deadline - WHS Bass Fishing Team
The WHS Bass Tournament Team was represented by three teams at the THSBA tournament on Lake Lewisville this past Saturday. Max Adair, Zachary Norsworthy and Brendon Prouty caught plenty of fish, but none over the legal length. Mathew McDougall and Bradley Slovak turned in three keepers and placed 25th out of 217 teams. Great job, guys!

WHS TSA members work individually or as teams in such areas as:

With such diverse events, any student can explore different fields and find something they are passionate about. TSA allows students to get a taste of real life experiences, such as impromptu problem solving, developing a resume, and working as a team to achieve a common goal. These are the kinds of skills that you will use constantly throughout your life.
Students - ask your participating Career and Technology instructor about Mega Lunch Meetings. Any student enrolled in Career and Technology courses (past or present) is eligible for membership. Dues are $25.00 per year and payable in October.

News from the Fightin' Roo Marching Band
On Septmeber 22, in the Roos football game against the Cooper HS Pirates, the Fightin' Roo Marching Band and Color Guard had another successful run of their 2017 production of "Fly to Paradise", now in full uniforms. Tison and Hall Middle Schools joined for a Mass Band rendition of "Handclap" by Fitz and the Tantrums. It was an excellent performance, and we are excited for the future members of the Fightin' Roo Band.

FFA Freshman Attend Greenhand Camp
WISD Education Foundation Student Scholar Athlete of the Week
Each week during the football season the Weatherford ISD Education Foundation honors a Student Athlete of the Week on the 102.5 Chuck FM broadcast of The End Zone. The 3rd week's Student Scholar Athlete of the Week is Grayson Stinson.
Grayson is a senior at Weatherford High School and has started at shooting guard for the varsity basketball team since his freshman year. Grayson has received All-District Recognition as a sophomore and junior and was named Varsity MVP last year, leading the team in scoring with a 17 points per game average. He also received 1st Team All-Tournament honors at the Decatur Invitational Tournament.
This past summer Grayson was a member of the Texas Triumph Gold AAU basketball team and he’s played in AAU tournaments across the country for 4 years.
Congratulations to Grayson Stinson, this week’s Weatherford ISD Student Athlete of the Week.

To be eligible to register in Texas, you must:
- be a U.S. citizen;
- be a resident of the county;
- be 18 years old (you may register at 17 years and 10 months);
- not a convicted felon (unless a person's sentence is completed, including any probation or parole)
- not declared mentally incapacitated by a court of law.
Scholarship Opportunities
“Make the U” (Haz La U) Scholarship. This scholarship is sponsored by the Hispanic Scholarship Fund. Thirty-one grants for $2,000 - $15,000 will be awarded. Students must be of Hispanic descent, have a 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale, submit an application, and submit one short essay. Go to www.colgate.com/hazlau to apply online. The deadline to apply is October 15, 2017.
Coca-Cola Scholarship. Seniors who had a 3.0 GPA by the end of their junior year are eligible for this achievement-based scholarship of $20,000. The awards are based on character, personal merit, and a demonstrated commitment to service. The deadline is October 31, and students need to apply online at coca-colascholarsfoundation.org.
