In partnership with the Oak Lawn Public Library, Mrs. Kramer provided Sward students with a calendar of summer literacy activities. These students were awarded the opportunity to use the newly installed book vending machine. After using the machine Ivy, a Kindergartner, "Wow this is not one thumbs up, but two thumbs up.
The beginning of the school year is always exciting. As teachers welcome their new students, they plan activities to allow students to get to know one another better. All of the back to school actitivites help build a sense of community within the classroom.
This week, students in all grades will begin implementation of the Second Step SEL (Social Emotional Learning) curriculum. Research has proven that children need social-emotional skills to thrive both in the classroom and in life.
