Amy Hann, a 10th/11th grade teacher here at RC3 is a graduate of The University of West Alabama and holds a Master’s Degree in Language Arts/Education. She has been teaching English for twenty years and has experience in grades 7-12. Her passion for teaching is fueled by the drive for student success and the love of teaching and learning. She believes that when guided with determination, patience, and grace all students can discover a pathway to success and that all students deserve a classroom where it is safe to learn from mistakes. For Mrs. Hann, it is an honor to have played a small part in the success of students for twenty years. In her spare time, she enjoys cooking, spending time with her two girls and playing games with family and friends.

My name is Jackson Taylor, and I graduated from Spain Park in 2023. I attended RC3 for three years and studied Computer Networking and Cybersecurity. Birmingham City Schools saw pictures of the RC3 pinning ceremony on Facebook and offered me a job as a system analyst for their IMS department in the Hall of Education in downtown Birmingham. I attend Jefferson State Community College, where I will get my degree in Business. I hope to one day run my own business.

I am a 2023 graduate of RC3's Skilled Trades welding program. After graduation, I started as a summer intern with Arlington Construction. In August, I was hired as a full-time employee. I am currently living and working in Auburn, AL as an assistant superintendent with Arlington Construction. Through the Skilled Trades Program, I have learned a lot. Now, I have a supervisor role in construction. We are currently building an apartment complex in Auburn. In the next few months, I am switching to the hardscapes division.

Are you a parent interested in getting more involved at RC3? Consider joining our PTSO. RC3 has been granted its own Parent Teacher Student Organization. The RC3 PTSO is being organized for the purpose of supporting the faculty, staff, and students.

Cosmetology and Barbering Academy students at RC3 participated in an "Anything But Hair Competition", where they were tasked with creating an innovative project. This project allowed participants to showcase their artistic and creative abilities while adhering to the theme. Students were encouraged to demonstrate angles, shaping, basic patterns, sectioning, basic elevations, and guidelines, utilizing design principles when styling hair. They demonstrated these concepts by crafting hairstyles, head pieces, and makeup concepts.

On September 28, 2023, the Health Science Academy at RC3 held its Officer Induction Ceremony for the Health Science Career Technical Student Organization, HOSA-Future Health Professionals. These officers will guide the HOSA Program and Events for RC3 for the 2023-2024 school year. Congratulations to these team members!

Skilled trades students at RC3 hosted their first workplace horrors tour this year. A Halloween themed construction site, gone wrong. Many of the displays simulated the after effect of OSHA violations and repercussions of not working safely. The event was headed by Mr. Lauderdale, the Electrical program instructor and involved students from all five skilled trades crafts. Students created their own props, came up with their own storylines, and provided detailed explanations for the safety violations that were displayed.

RC3 is hosting it's 2nd annual Pancakes with Santa on Saturday, December 2nd from 8:00am - 10:00am. Register today for a pancake breakfast and visit with Santa in his cottage. Tickets are $10 for kids and $15 for adults and may be purchased through myschoolfees, cash, or check to RC3. The deadline to purchase tickets is November 10th. Seating is limited, register today!

If the student will not attend for any reason on a scheduled attendance day, the student is required to email RC3 to inform us of the absence. Please email at: rc3main@hoover.k12.al.us at least 15 minutes prior to your scheduled arrival time.

Please be aware that RC3 attendance policy and procedures may differ from your base school.

Steps to prevent the spread of influenza:

• Wash hands often, especially after coughing, sneezing and wiping or blowing nose.
• Cover mouth and nose when coughing or sneezing
• Use paper tissues when wiping or blowing the nose: throw tissues away after each use.
• Stay away from crowded living and sleeping spaces, if possible
• Keep hands away from eyes, nose and mouth.

A sick child is advised to stay at home during the first days of illness when symptoms are most severe and the infection is contagious. He/She can return to school when his/her temperature has been less than 100 degrees for 24 hours without the help of any medication to help him/her be fever free.

You MUST park in your assigned space every day. If you do not have an assigned parking space at RC3, you are NOT allowed to park on the campus.

Driving to RC3 is a privilege, not a right. There are consequences for failing to follow all rules associated with driving to and from RC3. For questions or concerns, please see Officer Thomas.
