Mountain View Weekly Update

- Attention all parents: By now, you should have received a communication from your child's Core team teachers with important updates as we begin the third marking period. The communication also contains preliminary information regarding Mountain View's upcoming Spotlight Night. If you have not already done so, please review the contents of that email.

- Due to the snow day and delayed opening this week, the LinkIt! Form B assessment will be administered on January 24 and 25 (originally scheduled for the 17th and 18th). Note that a revised bell schedule will be in place, with all students taking the LinkIt! from 8:30 - 9:45, and the normal class schedule resuming thereafter.

- Fifth grade parents: The second semester begins on Tuesday, January 23. All students will switch from STEM (semester 1) to Art (semester 2) at that time. Individual student Core class schedules may also be adjusted to better balance class size and student strengths/needs. All fifth graders will receive a new copy of their schedule on the 23rd.

- All Spring sports physicals (Baseball, Softball, G/B LAX) and related paperwork are due by Wednesday, February 28 to be cleared by Dr. Porter on March 4. Please refer to the Student Athlete Information page for instructions and links to all forms. Tryouts are scheduled to begin the week of March 11. Please note that a sports physical submitted for a fall or winter sport may have expired. If you are unsure, please reach out to Mrs. Austenberg. If the ‘Sign Off Sheets’ have already been turned in for a prior season, there is no need to resubmit these.

- New to Mountain View sports? Please click here to review the Athletic Code of Conduct, pay-to-play fees, and more. Note that students will also attend an interest meeting with their respective coach where specific information regarding practices and other expectations will be shared.

- Reminders for 8th grade parents:

• The second payment for the Gettysburg/Hershey trip, in the amount of $157.50, is due on January 26. Please refer to Mrs. Toth's November 6 email for more information.
• Please carefully review the email from Ms. Walsh, sent January 12, regarding high school scheduling.

- Did you know? Mountain View students have access to Typing Agent, which is an online typing program they can log into through ClassLink. This website has guided typing lessons as well as fun typing games. Each student has their own account that is personalized to their typing skills. In addition, in their technology Google Classroom, there is a list of additional free typing websites that students can use.

The future is in full bloom here in Mendham Borough, and we are thrilled to invite you to the HSA’s 2024 Fundraiser! Join us for a parent's night out on Friday, April 5th from 7-10 pm at Roxiticus Golf Club for “Blossoming Our Future.” This incredible event will be a great way to bring parents together from Hilltop and Mountain View Schools. It will include a can’t miss silent auction, 50/50, cocktails, passed appetizers, music and entertainment as we raise money for the Mountain View Middle School Outdoor Learning Center. The goal is to provide a grant in the amount of $10,000 to make the Outdoor Learning Center more conducive to holding classes outdoors for our children.
