Our fabulous PTA volunteers will be leading our classrooms in Valentine's Day parties on February 14th. Students can bring Valentine's to pass out in class. We have a few reminders regarding student Valentines.
- Please do not address on your Valentines to the other students in your child's class. Only complete the "From" section with your child's name. This will help us as we hand out our Valentines at school.
- The school policy is no food or candy to be attached to the Valentine's Day cards.
Did you know? A plastic bag can take from 15 to 1,000 years to break down and only about 2% of bags are actually recycled. Support the Maine South Environmental Club by bringing in your plastic grocery, ziplock/sandwich, newspaper, bread and cereal bags. Their goal is to collect 500 pound of plastic bags to build a bench near their front pond. Send your child with clean plastic bags and will ensure your plastic bag goes to a good cause! ~ Your Franklin Green Team
Our collection box (pictured below) can be found in the front office vestibule. Let's put those old plastic bags to a good use!
As we are in winter weather months, here are a few reminders about appropriate gear for recess:
- Students are encouraged to bring winter jackets, snow pants, boots, gloves/mittens, and hats to school each day.
- Please label all winter items with your child's first and last name.
- Students need jackets, snow pants, and boots to play in the snow at recess.
- Students without boots and snow pants must remain on the blacktop.
- As long as the blacktop is cleared and the weather report states that the temperature outside feels like 10 degrees or warmer, students will go outside for recess.
- We encourage you to send an extra pair of pants and socks in your child's backpack during winter in case student's clothes get wet during recess.
Anyone Entering Franklin
All parents/guardians/visitors to Franklin must have a valid state ID or driver’s license. These will be entered into the Raptor identification system. This process only takes a short time to complete. Once you have clearance, a visitor pass will be printed and attached to a lanyard that you must wear throughout the building. The office will hold your ID until you return to the office and return the lanyard that was given to you. We request that you please be patient with staff as we proceed with this district-mandated safety procedure.
Student-Parent Handbook
Franklin Elementary School, along with all District 64 schools, operates following policies and practices that have been reviewed and implemented by the District 64 Board of Education. Please review the D64 Student-Parent Handbook before the start of the school year.
