With that I am holding auditions Wednesday and Thursday September 6th and 7th. The auditions will take place at the HS in the Auditorium. Auditions are open so you are welcome to watch others. When you enter the auditorium please remember to be quiet as someone may be speaking. You should enter and find a seat quickly and quietly. The expectation is that you have the monologue memorized, but you may have a copy of it with you to read off of if necessary. You may use your own monologue no more than a minute and a half, or the one provided. Please sign up for audition time at this link Audition Signup Sheet.
If for some reason you are unable to make one of the days scheduled for auditions please contact me and we can try to make arrangements for you to audition.
Monologue:
Parents. You can’t live with them and you can’t live without them. No, now that’s not exactly true. Although I wouldn’t be here without them, I have no doubt that I could survive perfectly well without their help. Without their constant pushing and nagging about cleaning up my room and getting good grades. I don’t know about you, but my parents can be the biggest…well, due to the fact that we’re in the presence of some of you now, I'll keep this clean. But God knows, they can be.
For example, my parents have this crazy idea that I’m wasting my life. They feel that I’m not doing anything worthwhile with it. They feel that I should use my free time, my limited, very seldom occurrences of free time, doing things that they believe will be educational and beneficial to me in later years. Like hell I will, if it means turning out like them.
You know, it makes no sense to me. Why can’t they accept me for what I am? Why do they make such a big deal about such unimportant stuff? And why is it that when there is a real problem, we can never discuss it rationally?
Dragon Scholarship Fundraiser
Welcome to the new school year! For those that don't know, Dragon Scholarship Fund provides EVERY JHS senior that applies financial assistance as they continue their education beyond high school. We raise money in the community throughout the year to fund the need. The class of 2023 received close to $100k in financial assistance. We believe everyone deserves a chance to earn a scholarship, regardless of class rank, financial need, gender, race, creed, or ability.
We are currently selling two items to help raise funds for this year's senior class and the future students of the district.
