The CHOICES Club started when Pedro was a Freshman, but when asked why he continues to be involved he said, "we just saw the potential that the club could have, and as our relationship with instructors grew, so did our interest."
"APS students are leading the charge for energy efficiency & resource conservation in our community!"
Aurora Public School students and the Green Star Schools Program were honored on Tuesday night at the United States Green Building Council (USGBC) Colorado Chapter's Holiday Gala.
APS is the first school (EVER) to be awarded the "Most Successful Community Engagement" Award.
That's right, y'all! Our hard work has paid off and every little (or big) effort towards promoting energy efficiency and sustainable projects throughout our district has added up.
What an honor it has been to see our students in action. Onward and upward!
This week's challenge: We're in the final stretch, it's time to power down!
The "OFF" switch is there for a reason! Let's see how much we can save!
As always, I'm here to help find resources, answer questions, and connect you with outside professionals to engage your student groups!
Thank you for sharing your time and talent with our students and here's to another week of going green!

EPA's Food Recovery Initiative
Most people don't realize how much food they throw away every day — from uneaten leftovers to spoiled produce. About 95 percent of the food we throw away ends up in landfills or combustion facilities. In 2013, we disposed more than 35 million tons of food waste. Once in landfills, food breaks down to produce methane, a potent greenhouse gas which contributes to climate change.
