South September Newsletter

Welcome to the 2022-2023 school year! We are off to a great start!

The first week has been a huge success as students got to know their teachers and classmates. The staff spent a lot of time teaching procedures, routines, and expectations. This helps to create a safe, welcoming, orderly building and a classroom environment conducive to learning.

Our school has universal expectations throughout the building. We teach students the following South Rocks behaviors:

R = Respect

O = On Track for Learning

C = Cooperative

K = Kind

S = Safe

We acknowledge students who show "rocking" behavior by giving out South Rocks tickets and Positive Office Referrals.

If you have not yet read our Parent and Student Handbook, please do so as it contains valuable information about our school. It can be found on our school website under "Documents, Forms, and Newsletters."

Our mission is to ensure high levels of learning for each and every student. Our school works as a professional learning community where we continue to focus on learning, collaborating, and looking at data to improve. We are committed to your child’s success. Each grade level and enrichment team frequently meets to plan instruction to best meet your child’s needs. Every day, students participate in W.I.N. (What I Need). During this time, students receive additional reading interventions or extensions.

Here at South Elementary, we also focus on the social and emotional needs of our students. We use a program called “True Success” which teaches students character development skills that will help them in school and life.

We understand the importance of strong relationships and value family and community partnerships. It truly takes a village, and together we can provide strong support for our students.
