Principal's Desk
Senorita Bejarano & Sra. Santa Cruz
Kindergarteners had some turkey fun in their classrooms last week as they were writing about their Thanksgiving. They also took a brain break and practiced making turkey sounds.
Music Classes
Mrs. Lee is busy getting the students ready for their performances. She is teaching them about performance behavior and audience behavior. The students are excited about their performances.
Sra. Meza
Students were learning about the syllables in Spanish class. They were applying the correct syllables to the pictures.
3rd Grade Personal Narrative
The 3rd graders shared their personal narratives with parents and staff.
The students read their stories and then the parent or staff member wrote them a compliment about what they liked about the personal narrative and why they liked that.
4th Grade Art Class
Mrs. Fouts was teaching the students about painting techniques and blending colors.
The students were doing a great job of adding only a little blue to the white for the sky and water.
Mrs. Fouts does an excellent job of modeling for the students prior to the students working on their art.
Robotics
Mr. MC was working with 2 nd graders as they created rides. The students did a great job, some also added music. There is a lot of teamwork, collaboration, critical thinking, and problem solving in the Robotics class.
Kindergarten
The kindergarteners enjoyed their Gingerbread Days with the substitute. They completed many activities about the Gingerbread and then the stuffed Gingerbread was missing and the students were looking for Gingerbread everywhere on campus. The next day they spotted the Gingerbread in my office window during announcements. Not quite sure how he ended up in my office, but Gingerbread was sitting in my window.
Principal’s Lunch
Today we celebrated our Bobcats and Trait students for the month of October.
The trait for the month was Teamwork.
Holiday Helping!
This year Ventana Vista will be collecting food and items for the holidays for families in need in our community.
We will be collecting non-perishable food in the office from December 4th to December 20th. Our goal is to distribute donated food to families in need who have students at Ventana Vista and to the Community Food Bank of Southern Arizona.
In addition, we will organize collections of clothes, toys and household items, such as toiletries and cleaning supplies for Ventana Vista families in need and to support the nonprofit More than a Bed. The donations will be accepted from December 11th - 20th in the classrooms with teachers communicating the specific needs. Look for more information in next week's newsletter.
Please let us know if your family would benefit from receiving food or other items by completing this survey by Wednesday, December 6. The identifying information submitted on this form will be kept confidential between Ms. Gulley, the school counselors, and administration.
Volunteers Needed - Winter Dibels testing
At this time, we complete a reading assessment on every student at Ventana Vista. We need volunteers to act as runners to help us complete our testing. Volunteers will gather students from their classrooms, walk them to the library, and help to supervise students while they wait for testing. You will definitely get your steps in for this volunteer position. We are truly grateful for your help!

FOX TV's LEGO Masters visit VV
Our FIRST Lego League (FLL) robotics teams hosted Emily and Liam Mohajeeri-Norris from the LEGOmasters show on Fox at Monday’s practice. Coach Mr. M-C and his son Jacob developed a friendship with the mother-son duo through different LEGO events that they have hosted and judged since they appeared on TV.
Emily and Liam served as celebrity judges to help our teams prepare for the upcoming tournament. They gave us great tips to improve our skits and research presentations, like how to block our skit so that the audience can see us better.
We have students on our teams from VVE, CVE, and ECMS this year. Maura Baker and Noah Mickey-Colman are coaching the teams together. Good luck at regionals!
Spanish Corner
¡Hola amigos!
El clima se está poniendo más frío. The weather is getting colder. That means it is the season for hot chocolate! Did you know chocolate comes from the mesoamericans? Though an ancient Mayan or Aztecs version of a chocolate drink has changed quite a bit, chocolate drinks are still widely celebrated all over the world!
In Spanish speaking countries it is tradition to use a bar of chocolate (usually Chocolate Abuelita or Ibarra) and the frothing stick (el molinillo) are a must have! These can be purchased at Bashas or Food City, for example.
There are a few children's songs that can be sung to make the frothing fun!
Thank you to Mayra Martinez for the resources:
Canción: Patio de mi casa y Chocolate Molinillo. (The chocolate song is sung after another well known children's song called, El Patio De Mi Casa)
Jose Luis Orozco - Bate, Bate, Chocolate
Como hacer el Chocolate Abuelita/ How to make Chocolate Abuelita (Chocolate Recipe!)
Learning Spanish as a family is the best way to learn the language -
¡Hasta la proxima semana!
