Let's give our teachers a huge round of applause! They are the heart of our school and are living angels among us. The Catholic Education Foundation awarded all teachers in the Archdiocese the "Angels Among Us" award. Congratulations! You deserve it!

What a great week to be a staff member at Holy Cross! The red carpet was rolled out for us this week. We had delicious lunches, chocolates, flowers, special posters, and the kindest notes from the best community in Overland Park, actually the best in the whole state of Kansas!

If there was one word, to sum up, the week, it is LOVE. If you were looking down on the operations of a typical school day, you would see love from parents sending their students to school, love when teachers greet their students, love between the student's friendships, love when students hug their teachers, and love from the staff enjoying each other throughout the day. Everything we do is out of love and it is God's love that flows through our hallways each day. Thank you for the love you give to our school and parish.

As we begin the next few weeks when it is hectic and maybe a little stressful, it is the love of God that brings us together and the love between us that makes our community special. During the next two weeks, let us remember the bible verse and quote from Saint Mother Teresa to help us remember how to love one another.

1 Corinthians 13: 4-7, "Love is patient, love is kind. It is not jealous, [love] is not pompous, it is not inflated, it is not rude, it does not seek its own interests, it is not quick-tempered, it does not brood over injury, it does not rejoice over wrongdoing but rejoices with the truth.

Meet Mrs. Cox

I am so excited to be given the opportunity to join the Holy Cross Catholic School Family for the 2021-2022 school year as the new third-grade teacher. I am a recent graduate from Wichita State University where I earned my master’s in early childhood unified.

I have been blessed to work with students from pre-k through twelfth grade in various ways. For the past three years, I have been a pre-k aid for the Shawnee Mission School District. Before that, I worked for three years as a substitute teacher in the Archdiocese where I worked with students in grades K-12.

Prior to that, I was a stay-at-home mom for my daughters for eleven years. This leads me to my husband Rob who I have been married to for almost 21 years. We have been blessed with four girls Lilly our oldest who is a Junior and Rose our second who is a Freshman both attending Shawnee Mission Northwest. Heather and Holly are twins and are in 6th grade at St. Joseph in Shawnee.

I am so excited to be able to work in a Catholic School where I can share my faith with my students and coworkers. I look forward to getting to know and work with the Holy Cross family in the coming weeks. Thank you so much for welcoming me into the fold and I cannot wait to meet everyone.

Holy Cross 8th Grade Graduation

Our amazing 8th Grade students will graduate on Friday, May 14th.

Mass will be at 8:30 am and the ceremony will immediately follow.

It will be a private ceremony with families and staff.

Please join us through live-stream starting at 8:30am for Mass. As a community, let's surround these young adults in prayer as they being their next journey beyond Holy Cross.

Hair Styles

The pandemic created many issues, but one we didn't really expect was the non-compliance of our uniform policy under hairstyles.

Hairstyles

Extreme hairstyles and/or coloring are not permitted. This includes hairpieces, feathers, or other ornamentation. Headbands, bows, or other hair items must be a solid color or school plaid and must be simple.
Boys and girls must keep their hair away from the eyes.
Boys’ hair must be off the collar and may not be bushy or extreme in style.
Boys must be clean-shaven and maintain a youthful appearance.

Please understand that we have tried to make allowances during Covid, but now that counties are lifting mandates, we need to follow school rules.
