It's Not Too Late!
The students of LMS have reduced the number of disciplinary infractions for the 1st Marking Period compared to last year at the same time. As a result, they are being rewarded with a Classic Car Show. So if you own a classic car (or know someone who does), come show it off in the LMS parking lot at noon on Friday, November 3rd. Click on the link above to sign up.
The students of Leonardtown Middle School thank you.
6th Grade Service Learning Project
Our sixth grade students have been learning about hunters and gatherers. One standard that they have spent much of this marking period working on is: Describe the characteristics and innovations of hunting and gathering societies, such as nomadic lifestyles, inventors of tools, adaptation to animal migration and vegetation cycles, and the shift from food gathering to food-producing activities. We thank you in advance for your support.
Do You Live or Work on Federal Property in Maryland?
Our schools are heavily impacted by federally connected students – those parents/guardians who work on federal property in Maryland, live on federal property in Maryland, and/or are active duty military personnel. Because of this impact, we receive federal grant funds to operate and maintain our schools and enrich school programs. To receive these funds, the U.S. Department of Education (USDE) requires us to survey each student to determine eligibility.
SMCPS is encouraging all parents/guardians to please take the time to access and complete the Impact Aid Survey Form online, located in the Home Access Center (HAC). Once logged in, directions to access the online form can be found HERE. A video with instructions is available HERE. The form can now be accessed in Spanish by clicking on the Globe in the top right-hand corner once the form has been started. The deadline for the online submission of Impact Aid Program Survey forms is November 14, 2023.

Jingle Bell Run
For the past several years LMS has participated in the Jingle Bell Run on Solomons to support the National Arthritis Foundation. Last year we were recognized as the largest team and the top fund-raising team! Our team includes students, teachers, family and friends. Please consider joining us this year on December 2nd, at 9:00 am, at the Calvert Marine Museum. The race is a timed 5K, but is open to walkers, joggers, strollers, pets on leashes and is a family-friendly event. It's a beautiful course along the Patuxent River and it's very festive. Participants and dogs dress in holiday gear and there is a 100-yard dash for kids prior to the race start time.
Click the link to join our team. The registration fee is $40 until November 1, when it goes up to $45. Contact Mrs. Dade at jtdade@smcps.org
for more information.
