Welcome Back Letter from the Superintendent
Dear East Valley Families,
What an amazing start to the 2022-23 school year! It was refreshing to have a more ‘normal’ feel to the start of the year, filled with positive energy and smiles from our staff and students. We are excited to welcome our students back to our buildings to begin a new year. With that comes optimism and opportunity to continue to support excellence, and improvement towards excellence, both for each individual student and our schools as a whole. We are eager to grow our systems of support to meet the needs of our students and strengthen the connections with our families. We continue to invest in professional development to enhance the skills of our teachers, and are excited to offer our parent support series this year to build partnerships and provide resources for our families to support their students at home. Through our work together, we can overcome the impacts of the pandemic and ensure high levels of learning for all of our students.
I look forward to seeing you out in our schools and community and having the chance to talk in person.
Russ Hill, Superintendent
East Valley School District Communications - Staying Connected
The East Valley School District communicates via several different methods to reach as many students, families and community members as possible. Communications are sent to update families about school closures (in-service days, snow days, bus route changes, and more), upcoming events, celebrations, and for emergency situations (lockdowns, secure and teach).
Communication Methods

Email/phone/text: School Messenger
Social Media: Facebook and Instagram
Mailers: Annual District calendar, newsletters, event postcards

During any emergency, we are committed to communicating with families quickly, with as much information as we can provide. Please be assured that during an incident that presents danger, student and staff safety is our first priority, and communication will follow. The chart below defines the differences between the (4) types of incident responses: lockdown, secure and teach (internal and external), shelter in place, and evacuate.

Kinder BRIDGE: A Jumpstart Transitional Kindergarten Program
The East Valley School District’s early learning goal for our incoming kindergarten students is to be ready for the rigorous academic standards and social skills necessary for success in our PreK-12 schools.
What is Kinder BRIDGE?
Kinder BRIDGE program is a free, full day transitional kindergarten opportunity for children not yet five who qualify. Criteria to qualify include those students who do not have access to high-quality early learning experiences prior to Kindergarten and have been deemed by the district, through a screening process, to be in need of additional preparation in order to be successful in Kindergarten the next year.
An EV Kinder Bridge class is available at each elementary school starting November 1, 2022, following the school calendar through June 15th, 2023. District transportation will be provided. The class will focus on basic kindergarten readiness standards and social skills to be “kindergarten ready” with priority for placement into Kinder Bridge being based on the student’s qualifying needs per the application and assessment process.
Applications are due by the end of the day on October 7, 2022. Applications are available online to download or can be picked up at your local elementary school.

EVHS Ribbon Cutting Ceremony Recap
The East Valley School District would like to thank our community for helping us celebrate at the Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for EVHS. Prior to the cutting, the band played the fight song, while our cheerleaders performed. Immediately following, attendees made their way to the library for cupcakes and a tour of the new school.
Thank you to our East Valley community for making this a possibility. The new high school is a beautiful community asset and a source of pride!
